Make Me Blush

Happy Weekend loves. Anything fun planned? We are going to enjoy a good amount of unscheduled fun with the kids and then I have the privilege of co-hosting a baby shower for two lovely ladies. Both of which are having baby girls, which is sooo on trend right now. Well at least the pink part. ha Blush is everywhere and I am digging it. It is an easy neutral to work into your stand by pieces and looks good on everyone. Plus, who could not feel feminine and cheery in soft pink? That is right, no one. Here are some fun pieces in spring's hottest hue...

1. This dress is too sweet and screams "wear me to Easter Brunch!)

2. LOVE these suede open toed booties. Would look great with skinny jeans. 

3. We still need sweaters and I am gaga over this one. 

4. Love a blush and gold moment. They also come in an oversized square shape. 

5. The thought of this pretty tulle maxi skirt paired with a body suit or luxe t-shirt makes me so happy. 

6. The perfect jersey dress to wear with flats all day and your fave heels at night. 

7. A blush market bag to hold everything. 

8. All the cool girls are wearing culottes. This jumpsuit, I can get behind. 

9. The prettiest sandals maybe ever. 

10. Because cold shouldering is here to stay and I love the eyelet. 

11. A little pink seersucker number. Also comes in flat blush.

12. An easy, comfy dress that you will reach for all Spring long. (add leggings now, bare legs later)

13. So I have a strange obsession with backpacks right now. This one would be perfection. 

14. Part varsity sweater, part perfect jean topper. (and later denim cut offs)

15. A classic zipper clutch in a pretty pink. 

16. The go to flats that I always go back to.

Not So Basic Basics for Fall

Though the temperatures say differently, Fall is here. With sweaters pilled and shirts with spots (honestly, why does everything have a stain on it?!), an update of last year's basics that were worn to their death is in need. I pulled a bunch of pieces for a friend while doing a closet refresh and loved all of these. The perfect additions that you can wear every day, week, and month until it is time to break out the shorts and flips again. 

1. I love the soft feel of this Blue Corduroy Blazer, the color is so great, but it also comes in neutrals. 

2. This really is the perfect shirt by Cloth & Stone. It also comes in a pretty coral. 

3.  A perfect Pointy Toe Flat, that is not too pointy.

5.  LOVE this J. Crew Stripe Turtleneck Sweater

6. A little edge to go with your morning coffee. Faux Leather knit cardigan

7. This Nars Velvet Matt Lipstick Pencil in Dragon Girl is such a go to. A foolproof red that looks great on everyone. And you can layer it for just a stain or full blown vamp. 

8. These Rails plaid shirts are so soft, machine washable, and a great update to the flannel. 

9. The updated skin pant from J. Crew everyone is raving about. 

10. A cozy Shawl Open Collar Cardigan that comes in a few colors. 

11. A Stripe sweater dress that can be worn day or night. 

12. A little investment in a J.Crew T-Shirt Cashmere Sweater will go a long way. 

I also love these Tights and these Leggings. Staples for under dresses, tunics, and long sweaters all winter long.

Ballerina Beautiful

Though my ballet days are behind me, I can't help but gravitate towards it as inspiration. It taught me so much in how I approach my life, even now. Anyone that has trained or rehearsed intensively knows that it lights a fire in you that never burns out. I would like to think I could still pull out some of my old tricks, but I think sticking to Pilates is probably best for this old (in ballet years) lady. 

Ballet is such a beautiful inspiration for  fashion, too. I love a great ballet flat year round, specially the ones that actually look like ballet slippers. Here are my current favorites.

Pale pink always brings everyone back to their time on the barre, but so does delicate lace (that costume), spaghetti straps (your favorite leotard), and full skirts (tutus at every age).

White Hot Summer

I cannot remember the last time I bought white shoes. Sandals or not, the last pair had to be my wedding shoes or maybe a pair of flips. Though they are usually not on my radar, I came across this pair last week and could not resist. 

I cannot find them anywhere on the web, but if you are in Chicago they are on sale at the Christian Louboutin store on Oak. I loved the detail and while they also came in a much more sensible brown leather, the white was something different. There was a sweet woman browsing while I was trying them on and reminded me that white "pops, like no other color," and she was so right. 

The ladies above are showing a lot of white on white, but I think I will sport these with other pastels and blue for a prep vibe. Here are some other white sandals that I think would be so fun for the summer.

Happy Weekend

What are you doing this weekend? Besides a few obligations, golf and being outside with the kids is what I am mostly looking forward to. 

I have been kind of obsessed with Zinfandel recently. Not the white zin that I have avoided since the boxed wine days, but the rich loveilness of a red. This Decoy has become a bit of a staple. 

I also plan on making this chopped salad with homemade buttermilk ranch dressing, which I have been craving all week. The ranch more than the salad, but still. 

I got these great Madewell flats this week and am trying to stick with my "no flip flops rule." They are comfortable and are classing up my day. 

These pillows (stripe and diamond) are going to great on my couch this summer, can't wait until they arrive. Along with this cute stripey rug for the kitchen. 

That is pretty much what is making me happy right now. I hope your weekend is filled with fun times and a treat or three.

Seeing Green

Emeralds, teals, and mints have long been on my favorite colors list, but for some reason they are feeling even more fresh for this Fall and Winter. It seems like a hard color to pull into a look, but there are so many cute options for green pants this season. A Little Fall Feline

I used to be completely averse to leopard print. It always looked a little cheap and was never really incorporated well into a look. I have been warming up over the last couple of years. I have yet to really dive in with a ton of pieces, but I think shoes are the perfect way to add a little wildlife into Fall. Slip on Something Comfortable

Every Fall something new comes along and though it is not mind blowing, you will see it on every girl down the street. This season one of those new looks is the slipper. Insurance or Traveler's Best Friend?

I think the answer  is both when it comes to these cute fold-up flats from Yosi Samra. While shopping at the brand new Scoop NYC outpost in Chicago, these little guys were staring at me when I checked out. 

How perfect would they be stashed away in your oh-so-cute clutch and slipped on after a long night on the town? And since we are in the midst of wedding season, these are much more chic than going barefoot on the dance floor or distributed out to your bridesmaids instead of flip flops.
