7 Holiday Party Looks for Every Dress Code

Are you starting to feel festive?
I am getting the itch to put on some sequins and have a proper drink with heels on. Which is a big change from my sweats and Netflix rotation that I have lovingly settled into with the cold weather. So the invitations to cocktail parties and cookie exchanges and work celebrations roll in, let's get excited for the nights ahead. And a killer outfit makes it even more exciting. I wanted to put together looks with pieces that have longevity, can be worked into your closet easily, and are straight up fun.

Dead over this sequin top! And I love a velvet jean for winter, especially in this dark green. A classic camel coat (on sale and comes in so many colors) makes for chic nights and paired with this white bucket and these pumps (on sale!) I am obsessed with this entire look.

A slightly oversized sweater half tucked into a midi skirt is THE look right now and the pearl detail of this sweater is so pretty. How cute are these bow earrings? Paired with sparkly pumps and the pouch (looks just like Bottega!) this is such a festive evening look.

A dressy look with a tucked in white button down is kind of the best. I bought these faux leather pants  (also come in black) and they are amazing. Fun party pumps and a velvet blazer pull it all together and a sparkly clutch for all the things.

A jumpsuit is always the perfect outfit, the end. This one is SO GOOD too. A leopard fur coat that makes cold nights fun, plus these cute bow mules that I LOVE.

Even if the dress code is more casual, there are so many fun ways to amp it up. Showing a little shoulder in this top with high waisted jeans that are cropped perfectly for these feather slides. Add a little sparkle with these ear cuffs and how fun is this star coat? Such a great statement piece.

Sweater dress plus knee high boots is even better with a little colored tight peeking through! And this cozy teddy coat is the perfect color and price.

Casual can still be super cute. I am kind of obsessed with these boots since they look cozy and comfy. An old school sweater and modern cords scream I am ready for all the cookies and champagne.

Spring Weddings: What to Wear

They are starting to arrive. All those perfectly calligraphy filled envelopes with gilded invites to a day full of love. And while those of us in the cold can barely get out of our pajamas (if you are wearing short sleeves right now, I hate you), it is really nice to imagine life in a flirty dress in a little sunshine toasting the happy couple. And there are some really great options for all you might need. Rehearsal dinners included.

Love a black and white, which can be surprisingly "springy" and versatile year round.

From Left to Right: Worship this graphic Parker $211 (on sale) / Preppy stripes are so fun by Line & Dot $149  / This silk Rachel Zoe is so chic $350 / Love the fringe on this Michael Kors $195

A nice drape in a light fabric always feels great and can flatter

Left: Love this print and ruffled Anna Sui $340 / Right: soft lilac and pretty drape by Asos $83

Florals get a modern touch this season and I would sport any of these

From Left to Right: I have been on eyeing this Parker $184 (on sale) / A digital print in rad colors Hunter Bell $325 / Love a sleeve and this print is so fun Tracy Reese $298 / This Parker would be so flattering and fun $319

Going long can be hard, but these could be dressed up or down.

Ballerina Beautiful

Though my ballet days are behind me, I can't help but gravitate towards it as inspiration. It taught me so much in how I approach my life, even now. Anyone that has trained or rehearsed intensively knows that it lights a fire in you that never burns out. I would like to think I could still pull out some of my old tricks, but I think sticking to Pilates is probably best for this old (in ballet years) lady.

Ballet is such a beautiful inspiration for  fashion, too. I love a great ballet flat year round, specially the ones that actually look like ballet slippers. Here are my current favorites.

1. Bloch $83 / 2. Sam Edelman $78  / 3. Yosi Samara $74 / 4. Melissa $85

Pale pink always brings everyone back to their time on the barre, but so does delicate lace (that costume), spaghetti straps (your favorite leotard), and full skirts (tutus at every age).

1. Gorgeous way to rock a tutu-esque skirt. findersKeepers $170
2. A classic pink dress. Asos $113
3. The front of this dress is even more gorgeous. For Love and Lemons $194
4. Pretty and casual dress from House of Harlow 1960 $68
5. Usually I am not a huge fan of the high-low, but this leather version is so pretty. BCBG $268
6. A full skirt brings you back to the tutu and this has an amazing open back. One by Saunder $198
7. The lace on this BCBG is so femme $298
8. Thin spaghetti straps and pale pink is the perfect combo. Rory Beca $229

Are you doing pliƩs yet?

Bump Style, What I am Wearing

I have been getting a lot of questions about what I have been wearing throughout my pregnancy. And while there has been a lot of Lulu Lemon and leggings in my life, I have really tried to find some real clothes that work for me. After month six though, getting dressed takes forever. Even more so now that I am weeks away. Luckily, I have a few standbys that are comfortable and keep me from schlepping around. Plus, I have been able to wear things that I can get some use of after the babe is here.

Here are a few of the casual looks that I have been wearing a lot. Please excuse my amateur photo skills. Note that many of these pieces are no longer available, so some of the links take you to similar options.

1. Love this Rag & Bone shirt, so glad I can still button it. It will be cute belted post pregnancy. leggings: J. Crew, shoes: Jimmy Choo

2. This Joie sweater was a favorite before I was pregnant. These leggings are Pea in a Pod, over the bump. Super soft and comfortable. The boots I got knowing that I would have trouble zipping up or getting off knee high boots. I love the buckles and the shearling inside.

3. I saw Beyonce with this Elie Tahari leather jacket on as well. It has built in panels that stretch, so it works now and will still be cute after. I live for Alexander Wang T-shirts. I have just been buying them in larges so I can wear over leggings or jeggings. Pants: Gap Maternity, shoes Jimmy Choo

4. I got this Joie blouse (on sale!) early on and have been surprised how comfortable it still is. I bought it one size up from what I normally would. These Paige maternity jeans are super comfortable and the same fit I like when not pregnant. Buy the same size you were pre-pregnancy or even smaller. They stretch. Wedges: Prada

When I have to dress up, I always wear tights and am still sporting heels. I usually just bring a pair of flats in my purse in case I need to switch.

1. I have had this Rebecca Taylor dress forever. The hem has gotten pretty short, so opaque tights are a must. I like over the bump the kind. Shoes: Chanel

2. I love this dress, not maternity, just got it in a larger size. It is from FROCK in Studio City, my friend's new amazing store.

3. This Parker pleated dress has gotten me through so many weddings and parties throughout my pregnancy. For winter, it is perfect with my favorite Elizabeth & James blazer, even though it no longer buttons. Shoes: Louboutin

4. I just got this Spring & Clifton sweater dress. I got it my normal size and it stretched with you, thank goodness. Super comfortable and the open shoulder keeps it cute. Shoes: Louboutin

5. Sometimes going tighter is fun, especially when going to a party where you want to make it known that you are pregnant. Nothing worse than people looking at you and playing the guessing game. This Rebecca Taylor that I have had forever barely zipped, but had some good stretch.

6. This Style Stalker blouse is also from FROCK in LA. I love the print and it was super comfortable for a cocktail party.

Mix in here plenty of over sized sweaters, lots of leggings, and lounging wear, and you pretty much know what I have been wearing for the past few months. I have yet to sacrifice comfort for style and I think that is what has kept me happy and out of sweat pants.
