Five Fresh Looks For Spring

There is a reason that spring is the season of fresh, clean starts. All that dirty snow has disappeared, the mounds of dirty wet clothes have disappeared from the back door, and sweet little green buds have begun to change the entire palette of your once brown yard. Take a deep breath and enjoy, you made it!
Fun, fresh spring looks are also a right of passage into this sunshine (and rosé filled) season. Pastels, whites, open toes, floral everything, and wovens are all ready to be placed firmly in your rotating wardrobe. So here are five fun looks that are a breath of fresh air with a splash of whimsy.

This dress ($300)! Love the sweet print so much. You could also tie it in the back. Paired with some tortoise shades ($55), a cute woven bag ($172) , and these AMAZING marigold sandals ($136) it is perfect for any event or party.

A fresh white shirt ($65) looks so good with these cropped straight leg jeans ($98). The white heels ($595) are super chic and gorgeous. These tortoise hoops ($36) are killer and this convertible bag ($98) screams "I am a cool french girl."

I want to LIVE in this white gauze dress ($246), which IS lined. These mirrored pink glasses ($60) are so great and this bag is a tote/backpack/shoulder bag ($795) that can fit your laptop and all the things. And these white sandals ($175) are giving me Dr. Scholl's vibes in all the right ways.

I love these pink sandals  ($495) SO much that I had to pair them with two dresses. ha This pink shirt dress ($276) is easy and works for so many occasions or no occasion at all really. And this sweet floral dress  ($290) is comfy, but chic. Add these fun heart hoops ($32) and pink Chloe bag ($1800) to either for a fun look.

This sweatshirt ($148) has the sweetest neckline that elevates an otherwise boring (but favorite) choice. Paired with these Levi's ($98) that look so flattering and easy to wear with cute sneakers ($140) is the perfect casual outfit. Top with these cute glasses ($59) and the perfect tote ($198) to fit everything and you are set.

Happy Spring friends!

Finally, Time for Spring Shoes

Now I do not want to be too optimistic, but I am putting my cozy boots away. If I have to bust them out again I may cry, but until then I am going to relish putting pretty shoes again.
There are so many fun, girly shoe trends this season.
Lots of bows and knots and plenty of different hues of pink to make us smile. There is something about Spring that really brings out the most femme pieces which is delightful.
So far I am wearing these and these the most, but here are some other fun pairs that would be perfect through Spring and into Summer.
Note: Almost every single one of these shoes comes in multiple colors.

1. These lace up wedge espadrilles are so pretty / 2. A slim slide with just sweet enough bows / 3. I worship this pink mule / 4. The perfect dressier flip flop / 5. Liking sneakers with a little platform  / 6. Block heeled mules are everywhere and so comfy / 7. A bowed skimmer to pull any outfit together / 8. A bow tie ankle strap is so sexy / 9. Apparently these are one of the comfiest sneakers ever made / 10. The transparent trend done just right. These too / 11. Beautiful laser cut details on this espadrille / 12. LOVE these pool slides / 13. A robin's egg blue loafer / 14. Gorgeous heels for night out. Or these / 15. These espadrille wedges would look great with anything / 16. Simple, but chic slides / 17. The perfect on the run slide

Spring at Home

I can currently hear the ice/snow/rain mix hitting the window as I write this. So while I would love to be writing about floral dresses and pastel sandals, those things seem too far in the distance to get excited about. sigh.
But I am not one to get pessimistic.
Springtime will come eventually, and if we can cannot wear all the fun things, we can at least surround ourselves with a few.
Floral prints, pastels, and greenery can be just as good for your home as they are for your Spring closet.

3. A great little sign for an entry or mud room

5. A succulent wreath that will last all season
6. A cool planter for a lonely corner
7. Beautiful floral dinner plates
8. Give me all the scallop bedding please
9. These pink wine glasses are screaming for Rosé
10. A sweet little floral painting
11. Pretty green tumblers to jazz up dinnertime
12. The cutest chip and dip platter there ever was
13. A live wall herb garden is genius!
14. I love the soft colors of this Anthro Rug

Happy Weekend

Currently Coveting: For The Home

Spring fever has started, which for a Midwestern is rough. At least two months of cold weather to go, and counting. For those of you in warmer climates, I want to be you.
With Spring Fever comes the urge to purge, one of my all time favorite hobbies (you wouldn't know it if you saw my kids rooms, but I swear it is true). And the biggest bonus of emptying clutter is seeing the spaces you are in more clearly and what might be added.
Smartly, of course.
After the clean out is done, add a few items to enhance your space. And of course make you happy, most importantly.
Here is what is on my current wish list.
1. This pretty mirror would bring some whimsy to the dining room. 2. Always on the hunt for a good runner, loving this one
3. A modern print would add a great mix to usual antique wall art  4. Worship these ceramic canisters for pretty open shelf storage
5. Mary could use these pink velvet drapes in her room. Other colors and great price
6. An abstract painting that would bring some color into a space
7. Blooming magnolia branches before the real thing starts. Silk is also an option, really
8. Our family room couch needs a refresh. Thinking these bloom and print pillows would be a good mix
9. A large white washed platter for my coffee table to hold remote/candle/candy
10. An extra set of silverware in brass is so fun. These are on super sale
11. Our kitchen has no clock, its weird. This wood one would bring some warmth
12. I have a few of these classic French glasses and they are perfect for little hands. and big clumsy ones too.
13. Having a few favorite photos in black and white  placed in these rose gold frames would be SO pretty
14. A marble butter keeper to feel fancy for under $20

Layer Up

This winter is so strange and somehow there is no way to not think about Spring in February. Mostly because it felt like it all weekend. I know some of you are hidden under snow and wet from the endless rain as well, so thinking of warmer temps and fun Spring looks is probably welcome. The transition from Winter to Spring is usually the time when your jackets and sweaters get the most use. Here are some looks that will be perfect for those in-between times of warmth and cold and quite frankly right now.

Spring always brings a flurry of invitations and save the dates. All those weddings, parties, or even just a night out with your main squeeze is the perfect excuse to shop for a dress that makes the occasion feel special.

Derby Day has had a special meaning to me over the last ten (10!) years as Matt and I met at a charity Derby party (this one) and have been together ever since. Now that we are in the suburbs we will be attending the Barrington Children's Charity Derby Party, and it will feel extra sweet this year with that ten years to celebrate. Time for Spring Breaking

Are you off somewhere warm? Hope so.
I am a little late on my Spring Break packing post as I know that some of you might already be on yours or headed out of town, but my packing does not start until next week so here I am. Since the kids stuff takes up at least half of our packing space, I like to keep things light and coordinated. Makes it easy to not only pack, but to pick what to wear once you are there.  Here is what I am going to bring (either the exact or close match to) this year...

1. A straw bag that doesn't mind a little sand, but fits everything. Hat Attack $95

5. Soft PJs that wash well, look nice, and are ok for your in laws to see you in. J. Crew $58
6. This suit looks great with cut off shorts and flips. Total 90s throwback. J. Crew $88 (many colors)

A forgiving, but sweet ruffle top for big dinners out. d.Ra $84

All the tops can be worn with each of these shorts...
1. Easily the best pair of lace shorts I have bought. Loft $59 (other colors available)
2. A sweet pair of floral drawstring shorts. Minkpink $59
3. My go to J. Crew cut offs. $79

Anything you cannot leave behind? Would love to hear.
Happy Travels!

The Summer Day Dress: Under $100

Some of you are already well into Summer, other of us are still patiently waiting. We have been teased every other week with a glimpse, but soon I know it will be blazing hot and it will be time to finally ditch the jeans and lulu leggings and put on something breezy. By far the best thing about Summer is that one piece dressing is a reality. So a few day dresses that look as good for errands and summer camp pick ups, as they do for casual al fresco dinners and brunch with your babe makes getting dressed effortless. I am ready to stock up and I found plenty of options under one hundred dollars so we can have some fun.

It is fun to play up some pattern with little dresses...
1. Gingham is on point right now and so cute. Glamourous $72 / 2.  Poppy's look perfect on a shift dress Asos $68 / 3. Love this navy palm print. Glamorous $72 / 4. Sucker for a paisley Asos $40

Stripes are kind of always a good idea. I want them all.
1. This dress is so sweet Loft $49  / 2. Breezy shift from Asos $54 / 3. I could pretty much live in this Asos $54 / 4. I like the bolder stripe and swing of this Asos $46

Nothing like the feeling that you are wearing a t shirt all day.
From Left: Gap $49 / Asos $27 / Asos $61 / Asos $45

(Clearly I am a fan of Asos. Specifically for every day prices like these dresses)

And when it gets nice and warm, a tank dress is essential
1. The drawstring is flattering Cheap Monday $70 / 2. Huge fan of the jean dress BB Dakota $75  / 3. Classic and comes in other colors Madewell $78  / 4. A little 60s nod Asos $40 / 5. Love this color Asos $33

And for those that need more day to night...
1. This color is stunning Madewell $74 / 2. The lace is so sweet Topshop $68  / 3. This has a fun split back Topshop $55 / 4. This has a cute scalloped back Asos $50

Pair any of these with a leather sandal or even a white tennie and you are set for your day.

Maternity Style

There are few things harder in life than having a baby. But what can seem almost as hard is clothing that growing bump and looking somewhat like your stylish self. And while your normal clothes can last you if they have some stretch, sometimes you have to break down and get the maternity versions. I pulled a bunch of options for a client recently that are great wardrobe staples you can wear throughout your pregnancy and that save you some money to buy clothes you really want post baby.

Tops...

1. This blouse could be worn to work with a camp underneath. Asos $50
2. A classic black blouse with flattering tucking.  Rosie Pope $44 (final sale)
3. A comfy grey sweater that goes with everything. Asos $40

For when you want to dress up...
1. The metallic and pleats of this dress is so fun. Add in your own skinny belt to lux it up. Asos $63

3. This would be so cute for a shower or party with a white tank. Hem to a flattering length. Asos $36
4. This has a swing shape when you are not in the mood for something tight. Hatch $219
5. Probably one of the best cocktail maternity looks I have come across. Asos $172
6. If you like a floral, this non maternity would be great. Addison $208

Dresses for day and night...

1. A white shirt dress is so chic. Invest in a slip to wear underneath. I like this brandAsos $63
2. A classic shift in a pretty color. Asos $45
3. This is non maternity, but if you go up a size can fit your bump for the first months. Madewell $138
4. Similar to the swing dress above, but add a statement necklace to dress it up. Asos $45
5. Non maternity, but roomy. Add a belt above your bump as you get bigger. Splendid $110
6. I love this. Chic but so comfortable. Add a bright bag or jewelry. Just female $136

The maternity struggle is real. I hope this helps you out.
