Happy Weekend loves. Anything fun planned? We are going to enjoy a good amount of unscheduled fun with the kids and then I have the privilege of co-hosting a baby shower for two lovely ladies. Both of which are having baby girls, which is sooo on trend right now. Well at least the pink part. ha Blush is everywhere and I am digging it. It is an easy neutral to work into your stand by pieces and looks good on everyone. Plus, who could not feel feminine and cheery in soft pink? That is right, no one. Here are some fun pieces in spring's hottest hue...

Wedding Season

These days there is not a whole lot of dressing up happening. I like to get it together for date night, but it certainly does not involve a cocktail dress. So for some of us, that wedding invitation or fundraising party are the best excuses to do a little shopping and put a unique and refined look together. And though my wedding wardrobe for this weekend (can't wait!) includes a bridesmaid dress, these are the looks that would look so great for your Summer line up.

For a more modern feel...
Dress: Blessed are the Meek $230 / Bag: Rebecca Minkoff $95 / Shoes: Alive + Olivia $325

I am obsessed with the zipper lined envelope clutch. Comes in a bunch of colors too!

This could work for any wedding, even black tie...
Dress: Notte by Marchesa $340 (on sale) / Bag: Santi $145 / Shoes: Sam Edelman $109

When the dress code is more casual...
Dress: Parker $192 (on sale) / Bag: Oliveve $130 / Shoes: Vince $395

Dress: Asos $118 / Bag: Lauren Merkin $175 / Shoes: Stuart Weitzman $398

Love all these so much. Any of them your favorite?

Moody Florals

There is something so sophisticated and a little dark about floral on black. Takes away a bit of the sweetness and gives it just enough edge to pull off in the colder months. It looks great in a dress, top or skirt and best topped with a leather jacket or that green anorak. I have had my eye on this dress as you can see from my other posts. My wardrobe has felt a bit uninspired and these prints are such a reflection of my mode going into Fall.

1. Great for work or play, this Club Monaco is currently in my cart $229
2. Romantic and moody paired perfect with your have jeans. Joie $258
3. This midi pencil skirt would be so chic for the office with a white button down. Asos $47
4. A classic tea dress works for the office and look perfect topped with a denim jacket or blazer.  French Connection $155
5. This clutch would be a fun touch for a night out. Rebecca Minkoff $95
6. A sweet little dress by BB Dakota $90
7. This floral dress would even work during the holidays. Ted Baker $244
8. This dress is so pretty and delicate. Jill Stuart $478
9. Obsessed with this romper. Pair with tights and booties for the winter. Blue Life $136

What I'm Packing: Palm Springs

While the polar vortex is glorious and all, getting to the desert can not come soon enough. I have been focused on getting the kids there alive and clothed, so my wardrobe has not been thought of much. While I always pack as light as possible, I have to even more so when half my suitcase is filled with the babes' stuff.  Besides a couple of lounge around outfits and my usual make up essentials, this is what I am packing for our trip this week.

1. This striped Alice + Olivia dress is my latest purchase, it fits and flatters so well. They are out of most sizes, this one is similar and on sale.
2. I have had a bad experience with spray tans, but I so want to be tan all the time. I swear this Jergens natural glow works great and has spf. A bonus I love.
3. A cashmere scarf is a splurge, but an oversized one for the plane that can then be used as a wrap pulls double duty. Barney's on sale! $179
4. This botanical print bikini from J. Crew is SO sweet.
5. A printed maxi is a go to for cover ups. 9seed $115
6. Leopard has become a neutral to me, which I never thought would be possible. This is my go to clutch and I will wear it with everything. Even with prints it works. Claire V. $275
7. No doubt these Jimmy Choo wedges are pricey, but my pair has lasted many years and can be worn with everything. The perfect vacation shoe.
8. The yellow Parker dress that I got on the last Shopbop sale sold out, but this Dolce Vita is also a sweet shade of sunshine in a great texture.
9. It is nice to have something that can be dressed up or down. I also love an eyelet when it is warm.
Gap $69
10. I try to just bring one or two pieces and wear my every day items on the plane to save space. This tassel necklace is very similar to a vintage one I am bringing that I can wear with everything. Rosena Sammi $55

Headed anywhere fun to escape this madness of winter?

Daydreaming

It is such a cliche to keep talking about how Spring is almost here. But can we really help but look forward to a new set of clothing options that we get to enjoy in the sunshine? By this time of year I have gone way beyond trying to look cute while staying warm and wear leggings, boots, and an oversized sweater. Not cute.

You know what would be cute? Stepping out for a dinner al fresco, drinking some vino, and wearing something light and pretty.

This dress is so pretty and I love the fact that it is knit. I have Tart Deco on right now and it is so bright and coral-ly fun. I can't even start talking about those shoes, I have them in my cart right now, taunting me. Watches have been so big and chunky that a slim band would look so fresh paired with a link bracelet. They would look perfect with a soft, neutral clutch.

It is warming up this weekend. A balmy 43. Argh.

Arm Candy

All the pastel bags for Spring remind me of the sweet little conversation hearts that, while not that tasty, are always cute for Valentine's Day. Last Spring we saw a lot of pastel and this upcoming season seems to follow suit. Ballet buns, peplums, lace, and all other things femme are still around as well. I have go to say, I am looking forward to indulging in all the girlie-ness.

1.  The perfect pink by Marc Jacobs $428
2. Marie Turnor minty fold over clutch $220
3. Alexander Wang bright and cheery duffel $650
4. Sky blue satchel by Botiker $395
5. Studded  and chic Rebecca Minkoff clutch $95

All so pretty.

Laters Babe

Ok, I admit it. I am obsessed with Fifty Shades of Grey. I have not been reading as much since the babe came (except books on sleep, specifically how to get your baby to sleep, so boring) but found some time on a recent trip.

Let's just say that Fifty is not a literary masterpiece, but a great escape and fun to read. Racy does not even begin to describe it. Enjoy.

Since Fifty is all about fantasy, I put together a little something Ana might wear to drinks with Christian. Maybe a helicopter (Charlie Tango) is involved? Who knows, but this is what I would style her in...

McQ by Alexander McQueen Sheath ($355). Ladylike shape with a mysterious print.
Cheeky bracelet that is just his style by Stella McCartney ($660)
A functional clutch by Essex ($150). Nothing too flashy for Mr. Grey.
One part classic, one part sexy patent Jimmy Choo heels

Essex LA makes all their bags custom, with plenty of zipper, leather, and even inside pocket color choices. So fun to design one for yourself. I discovered them over on Melissa's blog, which you should bookmark immediately.

I bought those Jimmy Choo's as an early birthday present. They have been on my radar for awhile and I loved the nude patent's versatility with the unconventional shape.

So what would you wear to meet Christian? Or do we not want to know?

Laters.

Get the Look: Diane Kruger

My love for Diane and her style runs deep. The girl can do no wrong and did not disappoint at the Met Ball. This Prada, that I am sure was specially made just for her, is amazing. The feathers add drama, but the simply designed camisole top and easy styling makes it the perfect look.

I wish "Mrs. Prada" could make me this. But until then, I am loving these two options.

1. Theory $415
3. Anthropologie $198
4. One by Babs $425
5. Soixante Neuf $148

Though the drama of the feathers would not be as practical for say a wedding or black tie affair in our world, the addition of an open back to the dress adds just enough. I love these long pendant necklaces, as you can layer them while dressing up or down. Diane's Prada clutch was a bold choice, and something to not be afraid to do. This summer, nothing is "too much." Have you seen how much neon is around?

Weekend Look: Cinco de Mayo

You must think I am totally obsessed with Cinco de Mayo given the amount of posts I am writing about it. And truth be told, I am. But I think because I am not celebrating with a big soiree this year, I am having withdrawals and taking it out on my posts. I promise, this is the last one.... At least until next year.

So now that we have the meal covered, the drinks and the table, it is time to style you for the party. A crisp white dress with neon accents, the perfect canary clutch that you will cherish for years, and some earthy, but fab espadrilles to keep it down to earth....

Dress: Lipsy $136
Clutch: Victoria Beckham $650
Wedges: Delman $237

That over sized VB envelope clutch is officially on my list of must haves for the summer. Nothing is a better summer staple than tan leather wedges that work day or night and these actually look comfortable. The dress also has an exposed zipper in the back making it even more amazing.

Happy celebrating this weekend. Whether you are going all out for the holiday or just cracking open a Corona, enjoy.

Weekend Wish: Is Spring Here Yet?

I already have my eye on spring and winter just got here. I think it has more to do with wanting to dress in regular clothes again and dreaming about when that might be. Hopefully when the temperatures start rising and I have a waistline again, I can sport something like this look...

A chambray blazer from Acne is perfect for layering and a great alternative to my usual black. The Missoni skirt is so sweet with its scalloped edges and pastel colors. Loving the neon yellow Proenza Schouler snakeskin against the more muted tones. And these Chloe wedges are the perfect wedge with this look or with cropped pants, denim or a maxi dress.

My weekend wish is that it will not feel like long until I can put this all together and enjoy some warm weather, looking cute, and with a new sidekick that won't spit up on it. Lots of wishful thinking there, especially the spit up part. A burp clothe would look great with that blazer.

Sandra looked stunning and festive last week at an AmFar event....

The metallic mini dress with a men's style jacket is the perfect combination for the upcoming holiday season. Black and White All Over

I posted a picture of this gem of a vintage clutch that was an amazing find for a serious steal. This rarely happens, but sometimes you just stumble across a piece that can be incorporated so well into your wardrobe and you wonder how you ever lived without it. Having no guilt from the purchase also feels pretty freaking great.

Many of the August issues of my favorite mags were showing black and white accessories for Fall and I thought I would take a look around for similar finds to the above. How cute would these be with a chunky cable knit and high waisted bell bottom jeans? Yes, the retro seventies trends are turning up for fall and I have to say it is great. Breezy, college prep mixed with nights at Studio 54. Sign me up!

1. Burberry leather trimmed cotton tote at Net-A-Porter $1395
2. Meredith Wendell Bucket leather and canvas shoulder bag at Net-A-Porter $795
3. Rebecca Minkoff linen and patent Morning After Clutch at Revolve Clothing $225

You're Invited

So somehow my invitation to the royal wedding was lost in the mail. I am not sure how this happened, but I am sure it will arrive any minute now. So in the case it shows up, I wanted to be prepared with something fab to wear. I did a little research to see what one wears to such an event and found that long is almost mandatory, you must have on a curtsy appropriate dress for when you address the Queen, and you better bring it. The crowd will be posh, sophisticated, and classy. Slits up the thigh, cleavage, or back bearing dresses would be frowned upon, so leave the BeBe at home. The looks I put together are all very different, but I would sport any of them come this weekend.
Dresses from Net-A-Porter.com, Shoes from Barneys.com and ElyseWalker.com, Clutches from Barneys.com and NiemanMarcus.com

All of the dresses have some drape and an ease to them. The last thing you want to be doing in the presence of royalty is look like you are trying too hard. And because this is a wedding I wanted to make sure they all had a bit of romance to them, but a touch of edge in the accessories to chic it up a bit.

I included one of Kate's favorite designers, Issa, as I know that wearing it will make us fast friends. We will strike up a conversation about our love for comfortable, figure friendly fashion, and before I know it she will be inviting me to Anglesey for a weekend in the country with her and Wills.

Well, at least that is how I imagine it. Until that happens, I will be setting my alarm to watch with the rest of the world.

Which of these looks would you be wearing?

Cheerio!

Cinco de Mayo

1. Hand made Papelitos Picados from Etsy
2. BCBGeneration basket weave clutch
3. Top Shop Mexicana Shift Dress
4. Tory Burch Tunic
5. Kenny Guadalajara shorts
6. Sur La Table Molcajete for your favorite guacamole recipe
7. Colorful and fun Steve Madden sandals
8. Pacifico Beer, don't forget the limes
9. Penny Black Peso cuff links for your man
10. My Pork Tacos Recipe

I have a really special place in my heart for Cinco de Mayo because I went to college in Tucson, Arizona. What I learned there was that this holiday is a great celebration of family, friends, food, and culture. With an emphasis on fun, some of my favorite memories of college were Cinco de Mayo parties with lots of cold Pacificos, brightly colored outfits, and sing-a-longs with the mariachi band. With this Mexican holiday just two weeks away, I wanted to pull some inspiration of what to wear and how to celebrate. Whether you plan on attending a lively celebration or trying the pork taco recipe at home, I promise that this is always a holiday that anyone can get in the spirit of

The Brighter Side of Things

I looked in my closet last week and realized that almost everything in it was a shade of gray. Sweaters, tees, tops, hoodies, bags, shoes and scarfs. All gray. That can really start to depress a girl. I worship gray and find myself always gravitating towards it in every store. Since it is not black and not white, I guess I have been fooling myself into thinking gray is actually a color. Well, it's not. And it is time for something other than a neutral to throw on. I saw this fantastic orange dress in one of my favorite Chicago boutiques Sofia Vintage over the weekend. I contemplated the insane color for a second, then decided to just try it on. It was like a breath of fresh air. The simple shift shape, three-quarter length sleeve, and scoop neck are perfect. the simplicity of the design allows for the color to speak for itself. I took it up one more notch with this Alice & Olivia belt, but paired it with a simple gold bracelet and nude heels to tame it down just a bit. The dress is by Myne and I could not find it online. I did find a few other bright pieces that I think could shed some light on your wardrobe, though.
