Arm Candy

All the pastel bags for Spring remind me of the sweet little conversation hearts that, while not that tasty, are always cute for Valentine's Day. Last Spring we saw a lot of pastel and this upcoming season seems to follow suit. Ballet buns, peplums, lace, and all other things femme are still around as well. I have go to say, I am looking forward to indulging in all the girlie-ness.

1.  The perfect pink by Marc Jacobs $428
2. Marie Turnor minty fold over clutch $220
3. Alexander Wang bright and cheery duffel $650
4. Sky blue satchel by Botiker $395
5. Studded  and chic Rebecca Minkoff clutch $95

All so pretty.

Hide and Peek

Though I recently shared my favorite new swim styles for this summer, the more important piece of my summer wardrobe would have to be the cover up. Because as much as I am willing for my former self to reemerge, it is most likely going to take me much of the summer for things to fall back in place post-baby (does it ever, really?).

Cover ups can be just as cute as the suit they are hiding, but what makes some of them even better is they sneak a peek at what is underneath. So if you are feeling a bit bashful, at least you can show off your bikini without even having to undress.

A little bit see through and enough coverage to make anyone feel comfortable. And if you never feel like taking it off, I do not blame you. Because clearly these are worth staying covered up for.

Multi-Colored, Multi-Sized Horizontal Stripes Actually a Do

During fashion week, there was a lot of coverage of what all the ladies lucky enough to be attending the shows were sporting all over town. For some reason, I could not get this image out of my head.

This girl might be the only person on the planet that can pull this look off. With her perfectly unstyled, a bit too long hair and lithe figure perfect for lots of horizontal stripes, she somehow makes it work perfectly with classic black pumps and a simple shoulder bag.

The fun colors and varying widths of the stripes is what I love about the dress, even though I probably would not be able to wear it with such ease. It does work well though as inspiration. So I did some shopping...

1. Fendi from Farfetch $399
2. Marc by Marc Jacobs from Shopbop $350
3. See by Chloe at Saks $370
4. Reiss $170
5. ASOS $31 (total Prada knockoff, but price tag is so much lighter!)
6. Thakoon at Net-a-Porter $1450
7. French Connection From Bloomingdales $98
8. Oasis from ASOS $104

A Bit of a Wake Up

I have to be honest and tell you that my short hiatus was purely because my creativity feels completely shot. Maybe it is the in-between fashion seasons, my lack of desire to finish projects at home or a much busier schedule that has contributed to the absence of inspiration.

Then behold, Kate steps out for some humanitarian work in this McQueen. Polished, classic and always appropriate, she brought me back to life.

While not everyone has the opportunity to wear this exact look, I thought that it made for some great  inspiration. For us non-royalty, I would shorten that skirt and have a little more fun with the shoes. Give it to Kate to not cross any lines, look completely chic and spring me back in love with fashion.

I even was able to use this inspiration in my own closet.

James Perse top, Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt, Christian Louboutin shoes, Nixon watch

And a few pieces for Fall.
Zara Blouse, DVF Skirt ($245) , Guess Shoes ($110)

Thanks for the wake up I needed, Kate.

Ahoy, Ladies

Summer is finally freaking here! In the midwest it jumped from the 60s to the 90s in less than two weeks and now everyone is ready for frosty drinks, lazy days basking in the sun, and maybe a boat trip on the lake. I know I am ready.

The nautical look is something that needs to be worn carefully. It can go from chic to cheesy real fast. Pick one piece that has a nautical feel and keep the rest of your look classic and pulled together. I can feel the breeze off the water already.
