I still have a few pieces that have stood the test of time from sales of long ago. And to be honest, I am not as loyal of a Nordstrom fan as I once was, but the sale is always fun to browse and possibly find the next piece I will covet for a long time. Here are my picks for the sale that opens today!

Current Favorites & Sales

My heart is breaking a bit with the three week wind down until school starts. Though summer of course has its hiccups, this one has been great.  The juggle of kids, and work, and fun, and camp, and doing nothing is tough, but somehow we got there. So until that first morning comes, we are going to live it up. Or down, however you want to look at it. ha

Here are a few of my favorite things right now, but first do not forget the Nordstrom Sale is still on until August 5th! There is still plenty of greatness and they have even restocked a few sold out items I noticed.
Scroll through for picks.

And few of my other favorite things right now
1. I cannot believe I just ordered this wide legged jumpsuit. I should have been wearing it all summer long! comes in a romper too.
2. Been getting a lot of questions on eye cream lately. This is the one I use every night. . It is an investment, but you only need a little bit and it WORKS. Even my dermatologist uses it!
3. Everyone loves an LL Bean tote, but did you know you can customize them?! Just figured it out and now I have the perfect bag for tennis/workout gear.
4. The Handmaid's Tale. Have you watched??? It is SO creepy and completely addictive. Excited to dive into season 2. On hulu and iTunes
5. You guys, this dressing. I am not kidding has gotten me to eat more vegetables than I thought possible. You can find it in the refrigerated dressing section in Produce (heinen's for you locals) and it changes your life. Great on rice and stir fry too.
6. I am digging a good mom jean, and these Reformation ones are awesome. High Waisted to pull you in, thick denim that will not rip, and a great kick crop to show off your cute shoes at a great price.
7. These cabana chairs come in so many colors and are perfect for porches and patios. Even a kids room!
8. Been eyeing this light for over my island and realized that the Serena & Lily Tent Sale started! So many good finds. Especially bedding, baby, outdoor furniture, and even pajamas.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

It is Nordstrom Sale time! This one is great because instead of last season's leftovers, it is Fall and Winter items that are brand spanking new. There is SO much to go through, so luckily I saved you the trouble and looked at all 3500 women's items. Yep, clearly I am into it. There are also great beauty items to stock up on that never go on sale.

Have fun, friends!

9 Great Looks from the Nordstrom Sale

School gets out this week! There is this strange feeling of excitement and anxiety. Like what is the schedule? What will they do all day? How many times will I hear "Mom!?" I would say I am equal parts pumped and scared, we will see how that turns out. ha
To keep things fun for the first week of Summer, Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly Sale and it is full of new Summer items. Because we need to at least look like we have it all together and I am obsessed with all of these outfits.

Jumpsuit / Bag / Shoes (cute 4th of July look!)

The Summer Clothes You Will Wear to Death

There are those pieces, those work horses in your closet, that make them worth every darn penny. You know which ones they are and some are looking a little sad. I know mine are, but those clothes are exactly what I need. Not the trendy top I wore once, the dress I love but is too short to handle kids with, or that jumpsuit that can only be worn for the most specific of occasions. So I am concentrating on those "going to wear to its death" pieces and not because they are not interesting or do not have details that feel fresh. But because they are easy to throw on, make a statement, and could be worn almost anywhere this Summer. Best part is I found all of these options at Nordstrom for under $200. Most way, way under that.

1. The one shoulder ruffle is definitely the top of the season. Love this blue color, also this stripe, and classic white.
2. Sweet little block heels that are not too high.
3. A light knit dress that would look just as good with sneaks as it would heels.
4. This top would no doubt get tons of play all Summer long. With shorts or jeans.
5. Stretchy, silky shorts to wear with any top you own.
6. A go to, high quality stripe tee dress is always a win
7. A fancy update to the classic slide you could get away with wearing to dinner. These are also classic.
8. This ruffle wrap skirt is a statement, but so easily paired with a tank or tee, then flats or heels depending on where you headed.
9. These capped toe espadrilles from Tory Burch are great dressed up or down.
10. A silky top is the easiest thing to grab for a night out. Just mix it up with what you wear on the bottom. Comes in other colors too. Don't forget this so you can ditch the strapless.
11. I lived in a cotton romper last year that is no longer available. This one would be a cute update.
12. Got to love a drawstring short and a simple stripe paired with a tee is an instant look.
13. I do not think I could be any more obsessed with this long dress.
14. Taking your lounge look to a higher level with this long sleeve tee.
15. A chambray dress that will always feel comfy.
16. Another top that would look great with pretty much anything on the bottom. Especially white jeans. (think I am into stripes? geez)
17. Nude sandals that go with everything in a comfy block heel.

Current Wish List & Nordstrom Sale

Hi there. So life has seriously gotten in the way of writing. And frankly focusing on family, friends, and work while enjoying all the Summer fun has been so great. But I do miss you of course, so I wanted to check in.

And while I do not like to get political or too personal here, I will say that the news near and far has been incredibly sad. There are some very scary scenarios happening in countries far away and even as close as the city of Chicago. And while I like to keep informed and form opinions of my own, it can sometimes be hard to do so with how we are fed information these days. So I am keeping my ears open and mostly just trying to think compassionately and praying for families that are losing loved ones or living in any type of fear. How terrible to have to face that. Best quote this week was "Turn off the "news", and love your neighbor." I know that is so flower child to say, but that is really where I am at right now.

In more fun news, I turn 25 next week! ha Actually I am feeling pretty good about 35. It is a good age, right? Smack dab in your thirties, wiser than your 25 year old self (by a lot), and old enough to know that swapping any BS in your life for only the good stuff is the way to go. Here's what is on my wish list. (PS: A lot of this is from Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, so much good stuff)

1. Shiny new golf shoes by Nike.
2. A delicate diamond necklace by Jennifer Zeuner
3 & 4 & 5. Fell in love with tennis again last week. So this dress, racket, and skirt would outfit me very well.
6. Bluetooth headphones for running.
7. Sleek boots from Stuart Weitzman. (on sale)
8. Love this parka for the Winter by Mackage. This one is great too.   (on sale)
9. Love these Rag & Bone booties for Fall.  (on sale)
10. And because Chanel. Always

There is a lot of great stuff on the Nordstrom Sale. I tend to gravitate towards the coats and shoes because I think you get the most bang for your buck when it comes to the savings. Here are my picks. Hover over and click to link.

Sweaters to Love

Sweaters are getting a lot of play this winter. It is freaking cold. Maybe not so much for you ladies in the winter that is summer area of the West, but for the rest of us, winter blows. My sweaters are all starting to look a little ragged and frankly the thought of investing in sweaters and not in fun, flirty spring dresses does not make me happy.
Enter Topshop for Nordstrom. I love that you can now shop Topshop in the place where you probably buy everything else in your life. Their sweater game is on point and the options are all under $200 with quality that shocks me a bit, frankly. Here are some of the best, but there are much more on the site.

Happy Weekend to you all! I hope you stay cozy and don't forget to watch the Oscars on Sunday (or at least the red carpet), I will have my full run down on Monday.

Instant Update from Kate

I thought I would start the week with a little style inspiration. Loving this casual, but pulled together look from Kate.

via vogue.com
Sometimes it is just as easy to throw on a skirt with your favorite sweater and loafers as it is to put on jeans. This was taken in an airport, by the way, which we know is not exactly the chicest place on earth. Way to class the place up, Kate.

The long pendent necklaces she paired with her basic sweater is what drew me most to this look. We all have a few sweaters we love for Fall and piling on a couple extra long necklaces instantly takes that basic piece to something special.

Best part is that there are lot of options at many price points to add to your jewelry box.

1. Marcia Moran from Endless $270
2. ASOS $27
3. ASOS $10
4. CC Skye from Singer22 $110
5. ASOS $17
6. Cara from Nordstrom $34
7. ASOS $26

Two Bags in One

Zipping the suitcase closed after packing can be a challenge when you want to bring your entire wardrobe. When you go away, you want to look chic and pulled together. This can be really tough without checking (oh how I try) or editing yourself well.

The biggest space killers are bags and shoes by far. When it comes to shoes, these Jimmy Choo  nude wedges are my universal warm weather shoe, as they go with everything.

Bags are so much harder to edit since you have to contend with daytime and nighttime looks, sightseeing versus dinners, and everything in between. One way to help out is to find a multi-tasker such as this amazing orange Rebecca Minkoff cross-body clutch.

Notice how the chain (that loops around you perfectly) detaches and you are left with a cute clutch for evenings out? The gold hardware and studs on the bottom glam it up and the roomy insides can fit all you need.

The orange is so fun, but it also comes in more neutral tones to go with what you are packing. At under $200, you are getting a lot for this classic style from Miss Minkoff.

What are some other ways you get more out of what you pack?

What's Your Uniform?

I remember reading a personal style article in Vogue a few years back from an adorable NYC girl-about-town (can't remember who exactly) and she talked about her uniform each day. She was not a doctor or WNBA player, but one of those sickingly cute city girls you envy. Her uniform was a cashmere sweater, jeans, and boots, except in summer when she wore Capri sandals and switched the sweater to a white button down shirt. Photos of her looked polished and chic, not boring as I would expect from wearing the same outfit every day. She played with her accessories a bit and her hair was perfectly blown out or pulled back into a messy chignon. After reading this I really loved the idea of a uniform and although I never planned it, I kind of started to wear one myself. Albeit mine is a bit frumpier and way less pulled together, I am hoping I channel that chic NYC girl sometimes.

My uniform most days consists of leggings, a long top or sweater, flats or boots, and some sort of jewelry to make me feel good. I know I am not the only one who wears this uniform, as most people I see out and about are wearing a slightly different outfit than me on most days. I have to say, I love having a uniform as it makes getting dressed in the morning easy, I always feel comfortable, and it is easy to switch up. Now and again it is jeans instead of leggings or a dress or skirt in the warmer months, but right now I am all about the comfort of leggings. We all wear this outfit because it is not tight and ridiculously easy to put together. So what's your uniform? If yours is like mine, I have been searching for some more tops and came across I few that you might like (some are on sale!).

From Top, Left to Right:
1. Cotton Tunic from Zara
2. Sparkle & Fade Dolman Sleeve Sweater at Urban
3. Striped Cardigan by Joie
4. Long Blouse with Sleeve Loops at Zara
5. Mao Collar Blouse from Zara
6. Button Up Dress by Splendid
7. Ecote Macarame Trim Sweatshirt at Urban
8. Woven Knit Shirt from Splendid (currently wearing this while I write)
9. Dolman Sleeve Striped Tee by Stem
10. Sleeveless Draped Tee by Trouve
11. Pullover with Button Detail from T by Alexander Wang
12. Tie Neck Tunic from the Gap
