Bright, Warm, & New

As Fall begins, so does my usual uniform of jeans or leggings, a comfy tee or sweater in a neutral hue, and black boots or flats. Does your uniform sound a little similar?
Thinking a bright, fun coat would be the best way to cheer up the cold days ahead. And the perfect way to amp up that neutral uniform. Crushing over these lovelies...

1. This blue is perfect. Loved this coat last season too. J. Crew $368 (comes in other colors)
2. This is such a great update to a moto jacket in a fresh color. Banana Republic $198 (on sale)
3. This cabernet red is rich and lovely. Madewell $298
4. A classic red coat, love. Ann Taylor $228
5. Emerald is unexpected in the best way for a coat. Ellen Tracy $198 (on sale and other colors)
6. A dusty pink is sweet, but the duffel style keeps it not too J. Crew $365

Statement Sofa

Some of the spaces that I have been most inspired by lately have been full of white walls and brightly colored sofas. White walls can be kind of boring, but really it helps anchor anything you want to do to the room over time. And a sofa that makes a color statement is so fun and surprising.

I have a bright navy sofa in my basement that I love so so much. There are so many great options out there now as home decorators are taking more risks to lovely rewards.

1. I was floored when I saw this green number at Ikea. It is magic. $999
 2. Not quite pink, not quite red, this is such a beautiful shape and color. Deepa Gurnani $1998
3. This hot pink love seat would be fun in an entry or bedroom. Pottery Barn Teen $799
4. I love modern sofas mixed into traditional design. This yellow one would be fantastic. Hayneedle $919
5. Somehow this sofa has a clean modern feel, while also being feminine. This soft mint is so great. West Elm $899
6. A velvet chesterfield is kind of a dream of mine. Rowan Reed $2495

Outdoor Decor

With the interior of the house in a state that I like (for now) and the fact that I have put off decorating until I settle in more, I decided the patio needed a little love. We have a large space to entertain and enjoy and the privacy we have now is fantastic. We moved a patio set that we had at our previous place  and I used a few things I had along with some new items to set up two areas where we can sit, relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the summer.

I wish I could say I planted those flowers, but picking them up from the local nursery (thanks Mom!) was just as satisfying. The teak bench was a wedding present from our dear friends with a plaque engraved with our wedding date.

The black set was from our previous house, as well as the umbrella. I found all the fun blue and white cushions from World Market

I am obsessed with these outdoor ottomans. Perfect as a place to rest your legs, a tray for drinks and candles, or another seat. Also from World Market

Did you know you can bring in (sad) pots you already own to your local nursery and they will plant them for you? I did it with the blue pot on the right and had them plant all my favorite herbs. The rosemary tree smells amazing. Need some bigger planters for this entry, but figure this will be great for this summer.

Now if the temperature can go below ninety-five, I can enjoy it  during the day again. It will be fun to have a party soon and take advantage of the space.

Red + Pink = Love

While Spring will be all about pastels, I think that winter needs to be punched up a bit. I love the color combination of red and pink and although it seems like more of a summer look, I think it is perfect to spice up winter.

These lovely ladies give us some inspiration...

When color blocking these two brights, it seems that separates work best. I can bet you already have something pink or red or both hanging in your closet. Now you just need something to help you pull it together.

1. DVF $225
 3. Labour of Love $212
 4. J Brand $374
 5. Nina Ricci $595
 6. Alice + Olivia $250
 7. Jenni Kayne $175
8. Forever 21 $28
 9. Forever 21 $28
 10. RED Valentino $695
  11. Christian Louboutin $625
 12. DVF $285
 13. Alice + Olivia $205
 14. Modcloth $15
 15. Equipment $208
 16. Michael Kors $195

With this color story, I think the nude accessories work really well. Plus, I have a soft spot for patent in the winter.

How are you going to rock this look?

Weekend Wishes

I have just one wish this weekend, that  everyone has a great weekend and Easter.

I saw this pretty arrangement of tulips and thought it was the perfect centerpiece for any Easter table. Flower arranging is something that I am hoping to improve on this year and this lovely picture came with instructions and a video courtesy of Martha.

I was also thinking that instead of pink ribbon, I have some scraps of some really nice wrapping paper that I might just have a use for now. Don't you hate just throwing that away?

I am loving the glasses and monochromatic look of the rest of the table. It really helps the flowers stand out.

I hope these make it to your table in some form or it gives you the nudge to buy some flowers for yourself. You deserve it.

Happy Weekend!
