Summer Jumper

Summer events are kind of the best for dressing up. Warm weather, outdoor venues, and casual cocktail dress codes make is easy to have some fun with your look. Case in point, this wide leg jumpsuit that caught my eye a couple months back.

a

Probably one my favorite looks this year and something I had never worn before. (Clutch is Edie Parker on sale, this one is also on sale and so cute)

This is the exact one I am wearing and it also comes in in white and blue, which I love.

There are so many other cute wide leg jumpsuits right now, so I rounded up a ton of options so we can go wide leg all Summer long.

For casual cocktail or dinner out, I love these
From Left: Strapless pink is so cute / cannot go wrong with a stripe / little stars and slightly cropped LOVE and could be dressed up or down / white swiss dot with ties is so great.

These prints are fun
From Left: This off the shoulder does every trend right now so well / love a sweet little floral print / but love a big floral even better / this cold shoulder looks comfy but put together.

Loving this cropped trend to mimic a culotte
1. HELLO LOVER. Obsessed  / 2. How sweet is this denim option??? / 3. This simple playsuit is so chic / 4. This cold shoulder striped number would be so cute for summer days / 5. This black one is perfection / 6. Flattering stripes

This look works so well for more formal events as well. So unexpected
From Left: The drape on this one shoulder is SO GOOD (also comes in white) / Love a green moment  / This black looks comfy and effortless  / Super wide legs and polka dots / White with a hint of black, love it

From Left: Love the take on a white shirt and trousers with this one / A fresh take on a simple spaghetti strap evening dress / A flattering cut and just enough skin / This red is a knockout. love / Also love the tie and deep v of this one

Friday Favorites

Aaannnnndddd, it's the weekend. Thank goodness. I am off with my high school friends to celebrate a very special bride to be for the weekend. There will be a lot of wine spritzers, 90s hip hop, and laughing until our face hurts. Cannot wait. I hope you are up to something fun too. Here are my current favorites from the week...

1. I have been without a LBD for sometime, so when I stumble upon this Helmet Lang one it was fate. Thick scuba fabric that does not cling or wrinkle, and can easily be dressed up or down.
2. Mary and I have been sporting our new Käärmi bands every day.
3. Loving this in shower body lotion. Nice to not have to be cold out of the shower, then put cold lotion on. Works great too.
4. Loving the look of steel shower doors. Gearing up for a remodel and hoping we can execute it. Anyone have them? Would love to hear your thoughts.
5. Found the perfect not really red, not really pink shade of lip gloss that can be layered for less or more impact.
6. Went a bit off my usual sunglasses style with these Marc Jacobs aviators, for sure my most complimented pair to date.
7. Still love walking into the family room and seeing this giant ottoman from Minda Home.  And those Caitlin Wilson pillows
8. I was gifted this pouch set by Roberta Roller Rabbit and have been using them every day since. They are waterproof and perfect for wet bathing suits and sunscreen.
9. I have been living in this super soft romper all summer. I wish I had it in five colors.

Happy Weekend!

Cold Shouldering

I could tell from my last posts that included off shoulder looks that you were all into it. And frankly, so am I. Exposing a little shoulder is chic, sexy, and an easy way to show some skin for any age and shape. Details like ruffles, stripes, and embroidery make these looks unique. Happy cold shouldering...

Some dresses...

2. This Joie would be a great investment piece for summer and travel.
3. I love this sweet print. Asks
4. Worship this perfect striped dress by Derek Lam
5. A great smocked dress with sweet details by Pepin Sylvie .

Rompers...
1. A denim ruffled romper for $39? Yes, please. Asks

Jumpsuit & Romper Round Up

The one piece wonder.
How great does it feel to put on just one article of clothing that instantly makes you feel chic regardless if you are going to the grocery store or the fanciest restaurant? After sporting a fab DVF version (similar options here) that I shared on Instagram last weekend, I wanted to round up all the best jumpsuits and rompers for every occasion.

First, here are some daytime jumpsuits that are comfy, but keep it pulled together...
1.  This Mara Hoffman  is made in a crepe that could go to day to night.
2. I want to live in this Coolchange printed one.
3. Everything Wildfox does is comfy and this looks perfect.
4. This BB Dakota one has an open back for warm summer days.

Breezy daytime rompers that kind of feel like pajamas, but look so much more dressed up...
1. LOVE this oxford Caroline Constas that could easy be worn into the evening.
2. A pretty print from Soft Joie
3. DVF really knows her one pieces and I love the tassel.
4. This Splendid looks like two pieces, but just kidding it is one. ha

A nighttime jumpsuit will always bring on the compliments and is so flattering...
1. This Ali & Joe is not too fitted with a silky feel. (also comes in taupe)
2. This J. Crew jumpsuit could be worn with a blazer for work, then jeweled up for nighttime.
3. This long sleeve one from Asos has such a great 70s vibe.
4. This is very similar to the DVF I wore, but in a halter style.

A flirty romper makes wearing something short a little less involved...
1. I love a white peplum and this Asos has a sweet tie in the back too.
2. Combining three of of the biggest trends: Romper, Off the Shoulder, and Black Floral. Parker
3. Love this playful print from Parker
4. Even the over thirty can get away with a little open back action. Club Monaco

And another huge trend right now is culottes. Have you tried them? These versions are convincing me that it is doable and not a big investment at low prices...
1. This Asos pink number is giving me Alicia Viklander vibes.
2. I love this sweet bird print from Warehouse
3. This silhouette is universally flattering and in a classic black it is great. Asks

One Piece Please

The Rachel Zoe Project is on again tonight, are you a fan? I have watched since the first season and love seeing how her business has gone from just styling to ma-jor corporate brand. Some of her language and reactions are getting a tad bit old, but she seems like a fun boss and a glimpse into her world is a nice escape for an hour.

If you do watch or at least saw her collection for Spring, she was all over the maxi (subject matter of last weeks ep) and of course the jumpsuit. I have such a love for the jumpsuit or romper. It is so easy to throw one on and poof! You have a look. Plus, having shorts or pants attached is way easier to get around in than a short skirt or giant maxi.

I LOVE the sweet print of the first romper and the Chambray has such an ease to it. The BCBG screams vacation to me. And the sporty, but silky Paige could be perfect for date night.

I think people are more wary about jumpsuits with pants since the dreaded camel toe situation. It is all about the fit and if there is any pulling, return immediately. But how chic would these be?

Ombre DVF $465 / Draping Ramy Brook $445 / Printed Rachel Zoe $325/ Sexy Parker $286

The DVF printed jumpsuit is beyond chic to me, the print is so pretty. The Ramy Brook is gorgeous and with some gold jewelry and simple heels, you would kill it at your next event. Rachel's printed cropped suit is perfect for a day look or concert. The relaxed fit of the Parker looks comfortable, but also shows some skin.

Valentine's Day Romper

We are about a week out from Valentine's Day. While I am not one to go out all out for the holiday, I do believe in a little something to acknowledge it. I have written love letters, sent out funny cards to friends and cooked a special meal, other than that I really just enjoy the pink colored peanut butter M&M's.

I do believe it is fun to pick up a piece of lingerie to make bedtime a little extra special for your Valentine. I think rompers have just the right amount of sweet to sexy and I tend to gravitate towards them when shopping for lingerie.

1. Victoria's Secret $42 (variety of colors)
2. Forever 21 $13
4. La Fee Verte $120 (also in navy)
5. Forever 21 $15 (also in black)
6. La Fee Verte $130

Getting Personal: Aztec & Navajo Inspired Prints

I was told years ago, from a very wise woman that "Prints are Personal." Out of all of the advice I have heard on style, this has resonated with me the most. She told me this because she often helps me shop and we always had very different opinions on prints. While I tend to maybe pick one piece a season with a bold print and brutally scrutinize it in the dressing room mirror, she can instantly see a print she loves and how to incorporate it into her life.

With endless and beautiful options on prints season after season, I think we can all agree to disagree with what prints we love and those we hate. From large graphic prints to delicate florals, prints change with the seasons and your mood. Don't let anyone talk you into a print, because you will never wear it. Trust me, I have evidence of salesgirl print pushing hanging in my closet with the tags still sadly hanging from the sleeves.

To give you some print inspiration, DVF and Isabel Marant showed some Aztec and Navajo inspired prints that are fun and very different.

vogue.com
What I am finding fun about these prints are the diversity and the way it can be quite bold as Lady Furstenberg has showed us or more subtle as the uber-chic Isabel displays.

Now as the advice says, you could absolutely loathe these prints, and that is just fine with me. Because the more opinion you have about prints, the more likely you are to find the perfect one for yourself.

Weekend Wishes

Today has to be the coldest, dampest day in a long time. It is one of those days you just want to lie in bed, pile the blankets all over you, and watch reruns on Bravo. This is not the way to start a weekend. Hopefully, these will happen to make it better.

1. The ability to put away the umbrella  at least until Monday.

2. To make massive amounts of truffle parmesan popcorn.

3. Take a nap in my new cute romper from Target.

4. That a nice, big, cold, vodka martini
is how I top off my day.

5. To try a new recipe from Tyler Florence's first book (my chef-celeb crush).
