Jail Birdies

Sooo having a moment with black and white stripes right now. In a top, a dress, coat, all of it. Classic, yet fun, and surprisingly flattering. Here are some cute options to sport them.

1. This Topshop dress is great year round. $45 (on sale)
2. This top would look great over skinnies. PPLA $35
3. This comfy shift has an exposed zipper in the back. Painted Threads $35
4. This sweater dress looks comfy for the cold weather. Would look great with brown boots.  Asos $47
5. This knit sweater dress would be cute belted too.  Old Navy $34
6. Love the soft stripes and slinky knit of this A.L.C dress. $475

And though not stripes, I just picked up some black and white pieces that I am pumped to wear tomorrow night for a night out. Black, white, leopard, and gold. Can't go wrong, right?
1. Honestly, these Hudson jeans are the most flattering I have ever worn and so comfortable.
2. I got this French Connection top at Bevello on sale. You can also get it here.
3. I have black cap toe pumps like these from Club Monaco that I love so much.
4. This Bauble Bar hassle necklace is a lot like one of my vintage costume pieces. $36
5. This Claire V. clutch is currently sold out everywhere. It has become my go to. Which is funny since I used to loathe leopard.

I hope your weekend is black, white, and chic all over.

What I am Packing: Memphis

We are headed to Memphis this weekend without the babes (!) to celebrate my MIL's birthday. Matt's Southern family there is so fun and friendly, it is going to be great weekend. I hope to hit up some local spots as well so I can share next week. Any suggestions? It is going to be steamy there all weekend, so I am packing light. Here are the pieces I am squeezing into my carry on and hoping I do not sweat through them.

1. The best white tee to wear with everything. J. Crew.
2. The white tee and my favorite denim cut offs (J. Crew) will be perfect for walking around.
3. My Claire Vivere goes with everything in my book. Easy to pack too.
4. My new favorite sandals from Madewell.
5. I love this graphic stripe skirt (Theory) to wear with the white tee for dinner.
6. For the party, I will sport this Alice + Olivia. It is one of the most flattering dresses I own.
7. I am rediscovering the amazingness of MAC Lip glass in Pink Poodle.
8. Light and breezy dress for a trip to Graceland. These ASOSs skater dresses are the best.
9. The heel that goes with everything. Stuart Weitzman
10. My Jennifer Zeuner bracelet with the kids names on it to remember them while we are away.

Enjoy your weekend!

Shorty Swing My Way

There is something so easy about a pair of patterned shorts and a t-shirt for the summer. Or maybe even a boyfriend-style white button to dress it up a bit more. Add wedges or your favorite heels that make your legs look great and that necklace you cannot seem to live without. There are so many fun patterns this Spring to choose from. I am looking only in the elastic waist band variety, but want all of these in a line up in my closet.

1. An embroidered ethnic pair from Zara $89
2. Leafy green chic by Joie $128
3. Sequin and sparkly amazing-ness by DVF $265
4. Soft leopard from Haute Hippie $195
5. Silky ikat by Joie $178
6.Abstract black and white from Zara $39
7. Preppy anchors from J. Crew $54
8. Watercolor floral from Gap $39 (also available in maternity)
9. Techno floral by Clover Canyon $198

Mixing it up

No girl mixes prints as well as this girl....

Flawless Olivia Palmero just gets it right every single time.

Mixing prints is hard to do with separates. You have to be daring and have a fantastic sense of color, scale, and proportion. Something I wish I had a bit more of. Luckily, many designers are doing the hard work for us and putting together pieces with multiple prints.

I am in LOVE with this one from ASOS. I worship the granny-esque floral and bright prints, with the modern, edgy design of the dress.

ASOS $215

I found some other, albeit extreme, choices that could be fun on their own or mixed with basic pieces in your closet.
1. Tahiti $565
2. Clover Canyon $185
3. Sabine $46
4. Free People $69
5. ModCloth $107
6. Elie Tahari $398
7. BCBG $458

Not exactly a mixed print, but a loud statement none the less, these Brian Atwood shoes would be the perfect print to mix in to your favorite look. WORSHIP them.

Brian Atwood $1,065

So how daring are you? I bet you have some pieces to mix up in your closet right now....
