Time for Spring Breaking

Are you off somewhere warm? Hope so. 

I am a little late on my Spring Break packing post as I know that some of you might already be on yours or headed out of town, but my packing does not start until next week so here I am. Since the kids stuff takes up at least half of our packing space, I like to keep things light and coordinated. Makes it easy to not only pack, but to pick what to wear once you are there.  Here is what I am going to bring (either the exact or close match to) this year...

1. A straw bag that doesn't mind a little sand, but fits everything. Hat Attack $95

2. My fave mineral sunscreen powder now comes in spf 50. It is waterproof and gives you a nice even coverage. Sunscience $64 (lasts forever)

White Hot Summer

I cannot remember the last time I bought white shoes. Sandals or not, the last pair had to be my wedding shoes or maybe a pair of flips. Though they are usually not on my radar, I came across this pair last week and could not resist. 

I cannot find them anywhere on the web, but if you are in Chicago they are on sale at the Christian Louboutin store on Oak. I loved the detail and while they also came in a much more sensible brown leather, the white was something different. There was a sweet woman browsing while I was trying them on and reminded me that white "pops, like no other color," and she was so right. 

The ladies above are showing a lot of white on white, but I think I will sport these with other pastels and blue for a prep vibe. Here are some other white sandals that I think would be so fun for the summer.

Every Day Kicks

Sliding on the Havianas has become a habit. Though I would like to wear something a bit more elevated (in style and height), it just does not happen. This summer though, I plan on making a change and hope one of these options gets play more than the flips. They need to comfy so I can still run after the kids, while also being cute and versatile with everything in the closet.

What I'm Packing: Palm Springs

While the polar vortex is glorious and all, getting to the desert can not come soon enough. I have been focused on getting the kids there alive and clothed, so my wardrobe has not been thought of much. While I always pack as light as possible, I have to even more so when half my suitcase is filled with the babes' stuff.  Besides a couple of lounge around outfits and my usual make up essentials, this is what I am packing for our trip this week. 

1. This striped Alice + Olivia dress is my latest purchase, it fits and flatters so well. They are out of most sizes, this one is similar and on sale. 

2. I have had a bad experience with spray tans, but I so want to be tan all the time. I swear this Jergens natural glow works great and has spf. A bonus I love. 

3. A cashmere scarf is a splurge, but an oversized one for the plane that can then be used as a wrap pulls double duty. Barney's on sale! $179

4. This botanical print bikini from J. Crew is SO sweet. 

5. A printed maxi is a go to for cover ups. 9seed $115

6. Leopard has become a neutral to me, which I never thought would be possible. This is my go to clutch and I will wear it with everything. Even with prints it works. Claire V. $275

7. No doubt these Jimmy Choo wedges are pricey, but my pair has lasted many years and can be worn with everything. The perfect vacation shoe. 

8. The yellow Parker dress that I got on the last Shopbop sale sold out, but this Dolce Vita is also a sweet shade of sunshine in a great texture. 

9. It is nice to have something that can be dressed up or down. I also love an eyelet when it is warm.

Weekend Wishes

Just another cold weekend waiting for it to actually be Spring. Ordering pizza with a friend tonight, brunch with friends tomorrow, and the rest of the weekend lazing around with the men in my life. In the meantime, this is what I am dreaming of...

Weekend Wishes

Another rainy day in Chicago. Tonight is the perfect night to go get Mexican food with my Dad, then tuck in early. Excited for better weather tomorrow and a crisp walk with the babe.

I am kind of obsessed with this bee wallpaper. It would be cute in a little girls room, fun in a powder room, and might be a contender for my dining room. 

Melissa over at Fonty Fest shared pictures of her mud room renovation. It incorporates great design and functionality. I am in love with the horse hooks she used.  

I can't decide if pink pants could work in the Fall and Winter. Maybe paired with a black leather bomber and boots? These have been a favorite for awhile...

I like to imagine that one day I will have a pool house like this. Rustic beams, a bar to belly up to, and a low circular table to play cards and sip margaritas at...

Old Navy has some cute baby clothes ($12). This ribbed one piece comes in a bunch of colors and patterns. 

These DVF wedges are on sale and such a pretty color. Lusting after them and I think they would look cute with colored tights.  

How could Matt Boemer not be cast as Christian Grey? I think this picture pretty much locks it in for him.

A Little Fall Feline

I used to be completely averse to leopard print. It always looked a little cheap and was never really incorporated well into a look. I have been warming up over the last couple of years. I have yet to really dive in with a ton of pieces, but I think shoes are the perfect way to add a little wildlife into Fall. Weekend Look: Cinco de Mayo

You must think I am totally obsessed with Cinco de Mayo given the amount of posts I am writing about it. And truth be told, I am. But I think because I am not celebrating with a big soiree this year, I am having withdrawals and taking it out on my posts. I promise, this is the last one.... At least until next year. 


So now that we have the meal covered, the drinks and the table, it is time to style you for the party. A crisp white dress with neon accents, the perfect canary clutch that you will cherish for years, and some earthy, but fab espadrilles to keep it down to earth....

Weekend Wish: Summer Shoe Love

I have been looking for a middle of the road height wedge for a couple of months. I love my super high wedges, but they just are not practical for every day and for carrying around a baby. 

I have looked everywhere and most wedges fall in two categories, sky high platforms or barely a wedge for the women of a certain age. 

This morning I found the perfect medium from Madewell... 

Love the tan leather and that they have a back strap. Just enough height to make me feel better about showing some leg, but not so high it looks like I am trying too hard when I go run errands. 

My weekend wish is that when they arrive I am just as happy with them. 

And while I was browsing the Madewell site, I could not resist these Bensimon sneakers. 

Oh so French and the color makes me happy. Only a couple sizes left in each color, so hop to it if you want a pair for summer.

Browsing for Spring

You know when you are on a mission to find the perfect dress/outfit/shoes/bag for a specific occasion and it seems like no store could fulfill that need after hours of shopping? It seems to happen to everyone and the hunt becomes frustrating. 

It is the times when you are not really shopping for anything, nor need anything, or in my case can't wear anything or know how anything will fit in the coming months, when you find hundreds (slightly dramatic) of perfect Spring pieces that would be the most amazing additions to your closet. That was my Saturday. I drooled over everything and willed for my baby bump to melt off and my swollen feet to be presentable so I could at least try things on. Instead, I gawked and wished that everything would be just as cute in a few months. 

My first obsession are these amazing Bottega Veneta wedges...

The wedge is actually a glossy, bright pink and the leather is the perfect contrast. The studs and height bring it all home. It is taking every will of my being to not order these right now, but I see myself caving in the next week or two while I await the baby. 

Then I saw this Tracey Reese sequined floral top with an open back and bandeau paired with the perfect Rachel Zoe cobalt blue maxi skirt with a high slit....

Cocktails on a rooftop deck? Rehearsal dinner for a spring wedding? Date night with your man? It would be so freaking cute for any of those. 

There was so much more and some great trends that I spotted. I will be shopping and sharing with you soon. Think lace bloomers, soft pajama-style printed trousers a la Kate Hepburn, soft pastels and the brightest brights. Adore it all and excited to actually start shopping soon!

Weekend Wish: Is Spring Here Yet?

I already have my eye on spring and winter just got here. I think it has more to do with wanting to dress in regular clothes again and dreaming about when that might be. Hopefully when the temperatures start rising and I have a waistline again, I can sport something like this look...

A chambray blazer from Acne is perfect for layering and a great alternative to my usual black. The Missoni skirt is so sweet with its scalloped edges and pastel colors. Loving the neon yellow Proenza Schouler snakeskin against the more muted tones. And these Chloe wedges are the perfect wedge with this look or with cropped pants, denim or a maxi dress. 

My weekend wish is that it will not feel like long until I can put this all together and enjoy some warm weather, looking cute, and with a new sidekick that won't spit up on it. Lots of wishful thinking there, especially the spit up part. A burp clothe would look great with that blazer.
