12 Perfect Pillow Combos

Mixing prints, whether in fashion or for the home, is tough. There are so many factors that make for a good combination like scale and color, and deciding can be torture. I have had lots of questions and requests for help with pillows, so I put together some combos in lots of different hues for your home. And while I would love to pile on 6 pillows on every sofa in our home, that does not fly over well with my better half. So I am keeping these to pairs. If you want to add any pillows to these pairs, just email me and I will send you more options that goes with your favorite!

Minted. More than Cards

We are all doing it.
Scrolling through the printing sites we love, agonizing over each design, hating the sticker shock, but loving the result. Yes, it is Christmas card design time.

I have used a few different sites over the years (tiny prints, cocodot, pinhole), but this year I went with Minted. Their design options are beautiful and fun, and they had a clean multi photo design that I think will be great for this year.

Much to my surprise though as I was searching the site, I found that Minted also sells prints. Gorgeous ones that can be printed in many sizes (including large scale). And to top it off, you can have them framed. I obsess over prints and knowing that a site I trust has some options gets me pumped.

Check out some of these beauties...

Gorgeous, right? And the pricing is not scary, in fact it is great.

The other bonus on the site is fabric. I wish that I knew how to sew, but luckily I know someone who could make some great pillows or table linens out of some of these lovelies. The selection for options for little people's rooms is adorable too.

Love a good find on a site I already love.

Happy Weekend

What are you doing this weekend? Besides a few obligations, golf and being outside with the kids is what I am mostly looking forward to.

I have been kind of obsessed with Zinfandel recently. Not the white zin that I have avoided since the boxed wine days, but the rich loveilness of a red. This Decoy has become a bit of a staple.

I also plan on making this chopped salad with homemade buttermilk ranch dressing, which I have been craving all week. The ranch more than the salad, but still.

I got these great Madewell flats this week and am trying to stick with my "no flip flops rule." They are comfortable and are classing up my day.

These pillows (stripe and diamond) are going to great on my couch this summer, can't wait until they arrive. Along with this cute stripey rug for the kitchen.

That is pretty much what is making me happy right now. I hope your weekend is filled with fun times and a treat or three.

Family Room Update

After writing about making a rug decision for the family room, of course I had to change my choice once again. The one I loved was just too pricey to justify considering the rug would no doubt see a fair share of spit up and slobber.  I wanted something plush, but easy to clean, and obviously to look great.

So I went back to the drawing room (online shopped) and ended up getting this one from Pottery Barn that I had my eye on when we first moved to the house. It was absolutely the right choice since it is thick and lush like carpet and most importantly, looks great in the space.

I would love a huge ottoman to finish out the large open space, but since it is used right now as a play area, I just needed a little something. This coffee table was on sale on Overstock and besides being the perfect place for fingerprints, it is very kid friendly. Putting something modern in the room was needed.

I could not resist picking up a few pillows that were on sale at Target, along with those peach ottomans I was coveting. Matt hates throw pillows, so I am lucky to even get to keep these on there.

My only complaint is that is sheds, a lot. With the dark floors I find myself swiffering and vacuuming every day. Which I hate. I know it is temporary and it will be worth it.

The blue rug that was in the space before has been transferred to our bedroom. Searching for a headboard, bedding, and the perfect paint color to finish that room. Or will it ever be? I have discovered that the cute One Kings Lane commercial is so true, which is kind of annoying.

Outdoor Decor

With the interior of the house in a state that I like (for now) and the fact that I have put off decorating until I settle in more, I decided the patio needed a little love. We have a large space to entertain and enjoy and the privacy we have now is fantastic. We moved a patio set that we had at our previous place  and I used a few things I had along with some new items to set up two areas where we can sit, relax, eat, drink, and enjoy the summer.

I wish I could say I planted those flowers, but picking them up from the local nursery (thanks Mom!) was just as satisfying. The teak bench was a wedding present from our dear friends with a plaque engraved with our wedding date.

The black set was from our previous house, as well as the umbrella. I found all the fun blue and white cushions from World Market

I am obsessed with these outdoor ottomans. Perfect as a place to rest your legs, a tray for drinks and candles, or another seat. Also from World Market

Did you know you can bring in (sad) pots you already own to your local nursery and they will plant them for you? I did it with the blue pot on the right and had them plant all my favorite herbs. The rosemary tree smells amazing. Need some bigger planters for this entry, but figure this will be great for this summer.

Now if the temperature can go below ninety-five, I can enjoy it  during the day again. It will be fun to have a party soon and take advantage of the space.
