Maxed Out

Warm breezy days call for something long and flowing. Not just because it looks great, but function plays a role as well. I learned this the hard way on a windy day at the park. That lightweight sun dress I love was suddenly showing way more than was appropriate. But aside from function, the maxi dress can elevate a look simply by having a longer hemline. Somehow that makes it fancier, more grown up. And let's get serious, some of us are not into showing leg all summer long. Especially pale, extra sun screened ones.

You cannot go wrong with black or white. Especially loving the look of a white dress right now.

1. Love an off the shoulder First & I $50 / 2. And in white even better Madewell $158 / 3. Pleats and swing shape for days when anything tight just will not do Asos $118 / 4. I love this tasseled, sweet number so much Asos $118 / 5. Soft and slinky, this has got to be so comfy Velvet $139

This Summer, cobalt blue and soft pink are having their moment.

1. Your favorite t-shirt turned into a flattering dress Soft Joie $124 / 2. Love the moire waist and roomy skirt Rachel Pally $166 / 3. This is the perfect shade of blue and could go day to night Madewell $148/ 4. This dress has a great drape and I love a drawstring Velvet $128 / 5. This can be feel dressed up with minimal effort Felicity & Coco $98

Whether soft or loud, a print is essential for the warmer months.

1. Obsessed with this floral print. Not too sweet. Asos $182 / 2. Girlie and fun BB Dakota $56/ 3. Strapless with a defined waist is my jam  Joie $198 / 4. I like the slightly shorter hem of this. And that I can add my own belt Soft Joie $168/ 5. She knows her prints and this one is perfection Mara Hoffman $240

A shirt dress style lends more sophistication to a maxi. Depending on where you work, this could be a go to option for the office.

1. You would where this dress forever. Love the navy. Vince $191 (on sale) / 2. Love the neckline and the included slip  Splendid $270 (also comes in black) / 3. Such an ease to this dress. And would make a great cover up for the pool. Everlane $65 (also comes in white) / 4. Add your favorite belt to this.  BB Dakota $88

And then the always in my heart, striped dress. I literally always try one on every time I shop. It is a problem.

1. Extra soft with a biased stripe. Soft Joie $198 / 2. Probably not every one's favorite, but I digging the colors. Felicity & Coco $58 (on sale) / 3. I usually loathe a high low, but I really love this Faithful $155/ 4. The perfect color combo Sundry $138

Spring Weddings: What to Wear

They are starting to arrive. All those perfectly calligraphy filled envelopes with gilded invites to a day full of love. And while those of us in the cold can barely get out of our pajamas (if you are wearing short sleeves right now, I hate you), it is really nice to imagine life in a flirty dress in a little sunshine toasting the happy couple. And there are some really great options for all you might need. Rehearsal dinners included.

Love a black and white, which can be surprisingly "springy" and versatile year round.

From Left to Right: Worship this graphic Parker $211 (on sale) / Preppy stripes are so fun by Line & Dot $149  / This silk Rachel Zoe is so chic $350 / Love the fringe on this Michael Kors $195

A nice drape in a light fabric always feels great and can flatter

Left: Love this print and ruffled Anna Sui $340 / Right: soft lilac and pretty drape by Asos $83

Florals get a modern touch this season and I would sport any of these

From Left to Right: I have been on eyeing this Parker $184 (on sale) / A digital print in rad colors Hunter Bell $325 / Love a sleeve and this print is so fun Tracy Reese $298 / This Parker would be so flattering and fun $319

Going long can be hard, but these could be dressed up or down.

Yellow was a standout on the runway for Spring

Cozy Up

It's cold.
Officially.
The wind is gusting and hats are necessary. And to top it off everyone in my house has a cold.
And even with all of that, it was a wonderful week. A joyful one filled with family and friends.
Wine, great food, laughter, and cozy sweaters make everything better. Even after a sleepless night.
Winter's best feature is slightly over sized sweaters that you can curl up in, eat treats with abandon, and still look cute enough to run errands. I hope your weekend is cozy and filled with laughter too. Here are some options to get you started.

1. Asos $56 / 2. American Vintage $130 / 3. Asos $85 / 4. Soft Joie $96 / 5. Asos $56 / 6. Oak $135 / 7. Gap $64 / 8. Theory $194 (on sale) / 9. Anthropologie $118

I want them all. Seriously. The above all paired with these (on sale) are pretty much my winter uniform.
Happy Weekend

Black Tie Affair

With wedding season pretty much never ending for us twenty and thirty somethings, the black tie dress code can be a monthly affair. This dress code can be the hardest as the dress cannot be worn to many other functions and you never know just how dressy people will get. The trick is to find something classic that you can switch up with accessories for different weddings. I recently put together some options for a friend and now I am hoping for a fancy event in my future as well.

This simple, but stunning dress would look gorgeous with gold accessories and a statement shoe. $250

A romantic, pleated dress gets an edge with a metal gold belt. This dress comes in many colors. So pretty. $106

If you go all out with the jewelry, shoes, bag, hair, and make up, short is totally doable for black tie. I love that all of these have an interesting architectural element.
The pink peplum would look fab with a blingy statement necklace ($116).
The halter dress would be gorgeous with chunky gold cuffs and a drop earring ($63 on sale).
I am obsessed with this flutter detail on the skater dress. The ultimate way to make a statement with a LBD. $106

And if you really want to make a statement, the jumpsuit would be so fab. Both the deep v with the mesh version and this killer black and white would be a show stopper. Just make sure you do it up with the rest of your look.

Fall Jackets & Coats

I know, it is still August and the thought of cold weather is anything but great, but I cannot resist to start looking to Fall. Jackets and coats make me giddy. This coming season there are lots of new, fun takes on some old classics. So while you might not want the temps to drop, these numbers may change your mind.

Leather sleeves and shearling are a great update to the asymmetrical flap coat.

From Left: Vera Wang $348 / Sam Edelman $148 / Mackage $690

Military is always a Fall staple. I am loving the soft dove gray of this coat and the shape of this shorter version of the usual anorak.

Burberry $995 / Rag & Bone $242

Moto can be a bit hard for my taste, but these jackets have just enough of this trend.

Treasure & Bond $328 /  Generation Love $282 / Marc New York $328

Obsessed with these soft pastel pink pieces.

JOA $134 / Splendid $168 / Rebecca Minkoff $498

These quilted jackets are a lot less mom-ish than their usual counterparts.

Adding knit makes denim more soft and cozy.

Free People $148 / Maison Scotch $335

Just think, order now and enjoy later. I always wait until it is actually cold and then scramble to make a decision on something new.
