Gift Guide: For the Home

Something that can make your home even happier is the best. And gifting something for the home can feel so warm and thoughtful. So from the amateur decorator to the professional party thrower, here are some ideas.

1. There is no girl that does not covet an antique rug right now. One for her kitchen would be SO good / 2. Hand stamped crocks that can hold everything from flowers to crayons / 3. A welcome mat that will make her smile / 4. Because she is a girl that loves a cocktail, this / 5. A beautiful piece of art or even a photograph is beyond thoughtful / 6. A glass cloche to hold her necklaces / 7. Print off a favorite photo and place in this pretty thin gold frame / 8. THESE SHEETS are the best. Such a upgrade and obviously useful / 9. A charger that is also a cute planter for a bedside table / 10. Pretty wine glasses because duh

White Washed

We have a living room in our house. Do you? I want it to be a room that we will actually use, not one that sits there looking pretty. My thoughts are that it would be nice to make it another family room with no television. That way it has a comfortable feel that makes it usable daily, yet I also want it to have style for entertaining guests. In my search for inspiration, I have found myself gravitating towards rooms painted white. Which is strange because I am really a color person. Although, lets get serious, I usually choose some version of gray. White walls seem so chic with neutral furniture and pops of color from plants, pillows, art, or window coverings. Here is what is steering me this way...

Love that mustard settee in the middle of the room and the striped rug.

Traditional sofa and wing back with modern wood chairs. So Cool.

Gray, gold and white is such a great combo.

The rugs are little random for me, but that painting is gorgeous.

I love the ease of this room, yet it also looks comfy. Worship the rug. Anyone know of one like it?

I for sure want a fiddle fig like this one, and I like the texture of the ottoman. Z Gallerie has a similar one.

Again, loving the stripes and the fiddle fig.

Very neutral with geometric pillows would be easy to put together. And there is that striped rug again.

Striped sofas. yes.

A few too many patterns for me, but I like the striped fabric. And those tables, I saw them at World Market on sale.

Classic, with wood accents and brass.

Think I am going in the right direction? Can't decide if white is boring, or leaves you with endless possibilities.

Freshened Up

A few more updates on what has been going on around here. There are a few additions courtesy of generous family members that read my blog and some mantel updates to keep things fresh.

After the NEAT girls interviewed me and I shared the total mess that was our bar, I got around to organizing it so it actually functioned as a bar for Christmas cheer.

My parents gave me this guy to watch over the dining room. It is fitting since these roam around the house all day eating.

My mom helped me give the mantel in the kitchen a fresh update and I officially hung the first picture in the house. We have been here six months, guess it was about time.

My sister in law also reads my blog and got me these cute running shoes that help motivate me to run on my new treadmill that santa brought (and put together). My other secret motivation? Downton Abbey Season 2.

And though not the sofa that should be arriving today to finish the basement space, this teepee is the perfect addition to the family room. How fun is it? And the babe loves lounging in there.
