Everything But the Suit

How was your long weekend? We played outside, drank cold drinks in the sunshine with friends, and hit up the pool. Which while getting dressed and packed for made me realize that I could use some more of what is really important for pool time. All the things to cover up. ha Seriously though, the cover up over your suit, the sunglasses, and the hat are great for sun protection and are what makes it an actual outfit.

Love the boho vibe of these
1. Classic print in a great length / 2. Love the sweet silhouette of this blue dress. 3. This romper could go from pool to dinner easily / 4. Great mixed print dress on sale / 5. This romper would be perfect on hot days

And a couple of takes on the maxi/poolside romper
From left: Wide leg jumpsuit I want to wear every day/ Equally this one as it looks beyond comfortable / This maxi is super light and comes in a bunch of colors

Some fun prints
From left: Tie dye will always scream Summer to me / This breezy black and white would be fun / The cutest and most comfortable dress for $62 / You can wear this off shoulder or not, great pool to dinner.

Love a good stripe on light linen
From left: Gauzy stripes and off the shoulder greatness / I had another version of this tunic and loved it / Love this Lemlem that is on sale

And white always looks great in the Summer
From Left: Love this simple trapeze dress / Sweet details on this romper / This dress has the best texture to is and love the ties

I love my always on pair of shades, but really want to find a fun pair for the pool
1. Stars for Summer couldn't be anymore perfect / 2. Such a sucker for a good retro moment  / 3. Crushing on white shades right now / 4. This shape will always be my jam and I love the size of them

Mirrored is still the thing and great by water
1. Cool shape / 2. Love the shape of these and the colors / 3. Dying over these pink mirrored glasses, also come in black / 4. Cool girl glasses for $50, also come in blush / 5. classic shape with mirror is perfect / 6. Oversized, mirrored and under $100

And  maybe most important part, protecting that sweet face of yours from the sun. (Because melasma, whose with me?)
1. Simple, but love the white / 2. Lots of coverage, but not as hot in this visor / 3. Love the shape of this braided hat / 4. An oversized Panama / 5. This is the back view of this oversized visor / 6. Have it and love it, great price too. (this one is too)

Packing for the Desert

Not to worry, I am still alive. Was just not in a groove this week to write and I figured no post was better than something lame. My mind is on my now toddler who cannot decide how many naps he wants to take a day, nursery decorating (endless internet searching that needs to end), and wanderlusting to the desert.

A week from today I will be on my way to the heat of Scottsdale with girls that I honestly can call family. Excited does not even come close to describing the anticipation. Laying by the pool, maybe a hike (maybe), Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, and watching my friends wine is on the agenda. I am the only one preggo, but I plan on getting pretty hopped up on sugar so it will be fine.

My current state of plumpness is putting a damper on the usual fun shopping that I would be doing before a warm weather trip. I found a few things that I wouldn't mind packing and have in my cart currently...

1. Swing dress with lace sleeve from Asos $53
2. Pale pink and sweet bikini by Melissa Odabash $180
3. Flattering vertical stripes on this maxi dress by Flynn Skye $162
4. Striped and sequins are the perfect combo on this weekender from Deux Lux $145
5. Metallic and raffia flat sandals by Loeffler Randall $175

Just seven days. Hopefully it goes quickly.

Weekend Wishes

It is easy to come up with my wishes this week, Pinterest is always filled with things you wish you had, wish you could do, wish you could go to, wish you could find the time to do....

These are my top this week...

I wish I could hang this original painting in my house.

Artist Jennifer Moreman on Etsy. Beautiful and fun work.

I wish I could hang out in this (or own) pool with this furniture all summer...

And I wish I could be with these girls at fashion week....

Hope a few of your Pinterest wishes come true this weekend. Mine are a little far fetched.

Destination: Parker Palm Springs, CA

Palm Springs, CA, has become one of my favorite winter time destinations. Dry desert air, fun retro surroundings, and warm weather make Palm Springs a fantastic place to get away. I think the nostalgia is what sets it apart from other desert oasis's. I think of Elizabeth Taylor lounging near the pool, Mad Men driving with their tops down, and Bobe Hope hitting the links.

My favorite place to stay is the Jonathan Adler designed, Parker Meridien Palm Springs

Obviously, the hotel has some seriously amazing design. Mr. Adler really put his cheeky-modern touch in the entire place. The room I stayed in had these fantastic black and white 1960s photos of the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Nicks, that I still dream of owning.

The reason that I love staying here is that it feels really intimate. It is not a big place and you can really enjoy every inch of it. I wish I could have found some more photos of the spa, because it is adorably nautical and preppy.

The entire resort used to be Gene Autry's estate, so it has a ton of history. You instantly feel like you are the Hollywood siren getting away from it all when you are here. The martinis are cold and the food is delicious.

If you don't mind the heat, you can get a great deal in the summer. But, the best time to go is in the fall, spring, and late winter. If you feel like venturing out, it is located close to town with plenty of bars and restaurants. Hiking and golf are blocks away.

This place has given me a lot of inspiration. Look for a follow up post tomorrow.

Travel Guide: Las Vegas

Putting a travel guide for Las Vegas together is like asking someone to narrow down their list of favorite places that serve french fries. It is a town filled with so many things to do, see, and eat that there is no way to cover it all. I plan on sharing a few places that I loved on my last trip to this crazy town. I am also going to include a few suggestions from trusted friends who are fun and have great taste. All I can say about Vegas is that it is like no other place on the planet. Some people love it, others loathe it. The key to a great time is figuring out what kind of time you want to have. The type of time that has you sleeping all day and partying all night or the type where bedtime is before sunrise and you see the city beyond your hotel window. Either way, have a great time and I hope some of these suggestions become a few of your favorite places.
