Pretty Patriot

I am not one for too much theme, but no one can resist getting patriotic for the fourth. There is still plenty of time for the perfect looks to come for your long weekend (thank goodness for free 2 day shipping), which I am sure includes lots of events. I put together seven looks to cover it all and loving so much of it.

The one shoulder ruffle is super on trend. Tucked into this nautical-esque skirt and this super cute clutch would be perfect with flats for day and heels at night.

I have been eyeing this wide leg jumpsuit for along time, so chic and flattering. Love it with some retro shades, the cult clutch that is back in stock, and fun fringed slides

Combining the one shoulder and gingham trend is fun. I love this sweet strawberry clutch (on sale) with these amazing block heels (on sale) for a night out.

This shirt dress looks so comfy and pairing it with a navy cross body and chic flat sandals will get you through a long Summer day.

A romper that is cute enough for you, but easy enough to wear while chasing kids is a winner. Love this red fold over oversized clutch (or in cross body) with wedges that will give you legs for days (on sale).

Go seriously All American in gold mirrored aviators, shorts that look like a skirt, a tie front stripe top with the cutest star sneakers (on sale).

And I love this ruffled stripe dress, looks comfy. Dress it up with an investment (but practical) cross body, and fun flowered slides.

Preparing for the Fourth

How was your weekend? Ours was busy, but very fun. Loving Summer right now, even the sticky heat that I usually loathe. The season just brings people out to socialize more, kids are running around playing with water every day, and every evening is an excuse to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. The Fourth is clearly the height of this and we are starting to get ready, though I plan to keep things as low maintenance as possible. Looking forward to pure Americana with parades on Main Street, wine with friends, and plenty of burgers.

Mary and I will be sporting our red, white, and blue....

1. Picked up this dress a few weeks ago at Scoop and love it. Flattering and oh so comfortable. The gauzy material is so light for hot days and can be dressed up or down. $110
2. I wish I was wearing these babies, but I already have a similar pair. Such a fab update on the summer bootie from Anthropologie. $148
3. This white floppy hat from Baby Gap has become a summer staple for the babe. Washes easily, too. $16
4. I have only bought the kids' pjs from Hanna Andersson, but this play dress seemed perfect for the fourth and on sale. $19
5. Mary finally fits in these little French leather sandals I bought a few months back. I worship them. J. Crew $45

This summer chopped salad with homemade buttermilk dressing is a great side for our barbecue. Plus, lots of finger food options for the kids before I toss it up. Going to pick up all the ingredients today.

I need some more Americana in our house since it is so traditional and my new hunt (eBay seems to be a great resource) is for a vintage American flag to frame. They can look so chic in a simple frame and incorporated into a gallery wall or placed as a statement piece in a living room, like this lovely pad...

Here is to the start of a short week! How are you preparing?

Get Set... Go

While some minutes the day seems to be dragging on, the next the weeks are flying by and life seems to be happening a little too fast. The holiday week(end) is stacked with an out of town wedding today and tomorrow, family BBQ on Friday, hosting a work BBQ on Saturday, and hopefully a high school style pool party on Sunday (nothing like HS with a baby in tow, and a large bump, but I like to pretend). I am tired thinking about this schedule, yet excited for all the fun activities.

On the menu for our BBQ on Saturday (keeping it really simple since I only have a few hours to prep):

Burger, Brats & Balsamic Chicken
Caprese Panzanella (grilled bread mixed with tomatoes, evoo, basil, fresh mozzarella, garlic, vinegar and red onions)
Corn on the cob slathered in butter

and the biggest, most sugary frosted cake I can find at Costco. Craving that butter cream more than life and there is no time for baking.

My wardrobe for all of this is still to be determined as my options are starting to seriously dwindle, yet I am refusing to buy too many oversized items in the hopes I will be back to a somewhat regular size soon. (wishful) I am wearing a cute Parker chevron maxi dress that still fits, and this Splendid fold over maxi skirt is getting a lot of attention lately. It is so comfortable. The rest is kind of the great debate as well as a total nightmare to plan out this pregnant.

I hope the rest of your week is filled with All American fun and lots of sugary treats as well. You are probably going to be drinking lots of wine, so you can think of me while you are sipping. I will most likely be sleeping.
