Let's Go West For A Cause

Everyone loves going cowgirl once in awhile. Especially for a good cause. Next month is the Barn Dance benefitting Advocate Good Shepard Hospital hosted by the Shepard's Circle. You can buy tickets here, and be prepared for a fun night of drinks, food, games, and dancing. Here are some looks I put together, just add a hat...

LOVE this suede dress. Paired with a long turquoise necklace and shiny western inspired boots

A super soft plaid shirt dress, paired with an oversized denim jacket and the cutest monogram boots

For a slightly edgier look, this chambray tunic and distressed denim would look killer with these fringed sandals and braided clutch

Love these Rails shirts year round and paired with classic 501 cut offs, a bib necklace, and these fun (cozy looking too) fringed moccasins rounds out such a cute look for the event.

And if you want to help the cause even more, Heads Up Boutique is having a shopping event tonight, Thursday August 4th, from 5:30-8pm.

As if you needed an excuse to go shop there.
Yee-haw!

Shady Business Does Good

Have you ever tried Warby Parker? In a world where your sunglasses can go missing at any moment (cringe face, it happened recently) it is nice to know you can get a chic, quality pair for under $100. Warby Parker takes the middle man of retail out of the sunglasses business and brings you designer quality shades for half the cost or more. They also do prescription eyeglasses. The fun part is that for free they will send you five pairs to try on at home. Then you just send them all back and order the pair you love. They also use USPS, so it is as simple as a trip to your mailbox. I recently needed a new pair of dark shades and picked out the five that I liked best.

Trying them all on at home made it easy and fun to see what they might look like in real life and not in a well lit department store.

Styles clockwise from top left: ReillyBanksRaglan, Lowry, Robinson

These are actually a lot different even though they kind of all look the same. ha This go around I went with Reilly, which have always been my go to classics. Although the Banks were a close second.

I am eyeing so many other shapes and colors too. Like the Raglan in pink and Banks in peach. There are honestly so many great options

Bonus about Warby Parker is that for ever pair they sell, they donate a pair of eyeglasses to someone around that world that needs them (read more about it here). So you look great, but you feel even better knowing you are helping someone see more clearly who needs it.  Feel good fashion is kind of the best.

And note that this is not a paid ad. I really just love this company so much.

Let's Head West

Western influenced clothes always pop on on the Fall runways. Be it in the shape of a boot, the stitching on a jean, or the flop of a hat, everyone likes a little cowboy when the temperatures start to drop. Below are some great options to incorporate into your closet as well as your man's this Fall.

And for those of you that need to go full blown outlaw for the upcoming Barn Dance benefiting Women's and Infant's Services at Advocate Good Shepard Hospital, I have put together full looks to get your two step on in style. The event is being held at The Barn next to Advocate Good Shepard Hospital in Barrington on Saturday, October 17th at 6:30pm. You can purchase tickets here, it is going to be a great time.

Overalls can seem extra 1997, but the new styles like these from Madewell are cut so well and flattering. Would sport them anytime. This flannel by Paige would also go great with skinnies all Fall long. A rugged cross body bag is a fun alternative addition to errand running.

A tucked in denim shirt looks so fun with this suede fringe skirt. I also love the touch of turquoise in these earrings. The Frye boots have just a touch of cowgirl to them, but could be worn with anything.

I have three denim dresses on heavy rotation right now. The perfect Fall staple and this option from the Gap is a nice color. Pairing it with a pretty scarf and turquoise belt Obsessed with these suede boots. The color and shape are perfect.

You can do denim on denim, ladies. A dark wash denim shirt tucked into this medium wash mini skirt is so fun. A fringed cashmere poncho (comes in other colors) is now at the top of my wish list. And these short suede boots are easy on, easy off for running out the door.

Can't forget the boys…
When you add cowboy boots to a classic flannel and his favorite jeans, suddenly you swoon a bit more. Just add this belt buckle to go full cowboy.

Loving this dark wash denim shirt with some worn in thin cords. These boots are just a nod to Western and could be worn all season. And a classic white cowboy hat, hellloooo.

Baking for Good

Are you a big baker? It is hard not to feel bad over the holidays because baking is just not something that I am into. The eating of the baked goods I am super into, so I always find myself buying things or cramming in a sugar cookie assembly session a few days before Christmas.

There are so many amazing local bakeries here in Chicago, but this one in NYC has me thinking I might be ordering from the East Coast this year. Baking for Good is an amazing small business run by a lovely girl named Emily. She uses local products, makes delicious goods, then gives 15% of the proceeds from your sale to a cause of your choice. Perfect idea for the holidays, right?

They have some fantastic products, too.

Who wouldn't want a box of a dozen photo cookies? I am Instagram obsessed, so I am super excited to order those. There are varieties of brownies, sandwich cookies, traditional sugar for every occasion, and even gluten or vegan options.

When you check out it gives you options of what charity to donate to. A sugar rush and that warm fuzzy feeling of giving back. Perfection.
